policyvote
Exactly, which means....... wait for it......... Aikman, Irvin and Smith would not have been half the palyers they turned out to be. Period the end. Not to mention the gobs of dinero thrown at that line alone is mind boggling. Get over the manlove dude, football is the ultimate team sport. To say two players alone were the reason a team won a single SB is uneducated at best. 3 SB'S? now that is just plain stupid. It was all of them together: the OL, Novacek, Moose Johnston, Ermmitt, Aikman, Irvin . . . they all made each other look better. Moreover--and this is the part I don't think anybody talks about--it was the coaching. Norv Turner and Ernie Zampese were two of the best OCs in the NFL at the time. While people are quick to dismiss the statistical production of players from Mike Martz offenses, people forget that Turner and Zampese came from the exact same Air Coryell coaching tree. You take all of those players, and you plug them in a timing passing offense that was still quite advanced for its day . . . lethal. Also, as far as all this leadership stuff, from what I've heard the real kingpins of that locker room were Kevin Gogan, Ken Norton Jr. etc.. Irvin may have been the superstar, and the hardest partier, and all that, but the notion that Irvin was the straw stirring the drink rings false. Peace policy Irvin partied as hard or harder than any of them. He also practiced as hard or harder than any of them.
Scooby's Hubby
In summary, my opinion is that Irvin is the best Cowboy WR ever. If Dez could be like #88 then he will be our team leader, at practice and on the sideline - in the locker room at before the game and at half time, marching up and down the sidelines when we are losing, motivating his RB and QB even. He would be a real best friend to the HC and owner. The team would look up to him in good and bad times. When we need a first down, the defense will key him on a inside slant route and he will still run it AND get the first down (the patented "Irvin" first down signal is extra). Noone will be able to knock him over or out fight him for the ball. Then, he can truly be #88.
