Probably not until this thing goes through the appeal process and takes another 3 or four years.... at which time all the players will be retired. myhousekey
Will make for an interesting week 1 matchup if the Williams boys and Will Smith are out. Of course both teams then have their excuse if they lose.

BillyBalata
Judge bars NFL from suspending Minnesota Vikings' Kevin and Pat Williams — again By Brian Murphy Updated: 05/21/2010 10:04:15 AM CDT A judge ruled today to preserve an injunction barring the NFL from suspending Minnesota Vikings defensive tackles Kevin and Pat Williams while they appeal their case to the Minnesota Court of Appeals. Hennepin County Judge Gary Larson said the Williamses proved they "would suffer irreparable injury unless the stay is granted, that (the NFL) will not be substantially harmed, and that the stay will not harm the public interest." Larson ordered the Williamses to post a $10,000 bond for him to grant their motion. The decision is a victory for the Williamses, who are fighting the NFL's decision to suspend them four games for failing 2008 drug tests in the so-called StarCaps case. Larson's earlier injunction had allowed the Williamses to avoid punishment for two seasons while their lawsuit was pending. Earlier this month, Larson said the NFL violated portions of Minnesota's Drug and Alcohol Testing in the Workplace Act when it disciplined the Williamses. However, the judge ruled the league's actions did not harm the Williamses enough to reap damages nor are the players entitled to further protection from suspension. However, the Williamses' lawyers asked Larson to reconsider his decision to dissolve the injunction, arguing that suspending the players would cause irreparable harm because they could not replay the games if they were to prevail on appeal. I think you are spot on...it looks like the NFL may just have to cut its losses on this one. They definately need to re-work their testing/suspension/appeals processes to coincide with various state laws, appearantly. When is the appeal supposed to be heard?, and if in 2011 or later, then the Williams' already won.
piratesownninjas
So why suspend Cushing at this point? If the Vikigns DT's can get away with it, so should everyone else.

But you are right on, the NFL needs to adjust their testing and appeals policy to rid of any loopholes for the players to hide behind. If the appeal was prompt all this would not matter, the NFL needs to have an appeal policy that is much faster. The appeal (and they do deserve an appeal) is the real hold up.
