DMD
My contention is that after the first 5 picks, your team is somewhat set other than trying to find sleepers/breakouts/undervalued players to fill in the rest of your roster. But the first five is how you address what you think your biggest needs/advantages are. Which of these players do you think was the best value in a 12 team draft with standard performance, a flex position but no reception points? All touchdowns are six points. 1.01 RB Chris Johnson1.02 RB Adrian Peterson1.03 RB Maurice Jones-Drew1.04 RB Ray Rice1.05 RB Frank Gore1.06 RB Steven Jackson1.07 RB Michael Turner1.08 RB DeAngelo Williams1.09 WR Andre Johnson1.1 QB Drew Brees1.11 WR Randy Moss1.12 RB Ryan Grant2.01 RB Ryan Mathews2.02 RB Shonn Greene2.03 WR Larry Fitzgerald2.04 QB Aaron Rodgers2.05 RB Rashard Mendenhall2.06 QB Tom Brady2.07 WR Miles Austin2.08 RB Jamaal Charles2.09 QB Peyton Manning2.1 WR Brandon Marshall2.11 QB Tony Romo2.12 WR Reggie Wayne3.01 WR Roddy White3.02 RB Pierre Thomas3.03 WR Calvin Johnson3.04 RB Knowshon Moreno3.05 QB Philip Rivers3.06 QB Matt Schaub3.07 RB Brandon Jacobs3.08 WR Sidney Rice3.09 WR DeSean Jackson3.1 RB LeSean McCoy3.11 WR Marques Colston3.12 WR Anquan Boldin4.01 WR Greg Jennings4.02 RB Chris Wells4.03 RB Cedric Benson4.04 RB Jonathan Stewart4.05 RB Matt Forte4.06 WR Steve Smith NYG4.07 TE Antonio Gates4.08 WR Dwayne Bowe4.09 WR Steve Smith CAR4.1 RB Felix Jones4.11 TE Vernon Davis4.12 RB Joseph Addai5.01 QB Brett Favre5.02 WR Chad Ochocinco5.03 TE Dallas Clark5.04 RB Jahvid Best5.05 RB Ronnie Brown5.06 WR Braylon Edwards5.07 WR Steve Breaston5.08 WR Mike Sims-Walker5.09 RB Justin Forsett5.1 TE Jason Witten5.11 TE Brent Celek5.12 QB Matt Ryan I went second and started out RB Peterson, QB Romo, RB P Thomas, TE Vernon Davis and WR Ochocinco. keggerz
Values I like are: Beanie Wells @ 4.2 Smitty @ 4.9 and I think I like Mendy at 2.5 too Edited July 17, 2010 by keggerz
ts
The "seem like decent value" picks: - The R. Wayne / R. White picks look ok, mainly because I'm not convinced I would have taken Fitz / Austin ahead of the former WRs this season. - I like the V. Davis / B. Celek picks. - The PT / McCoy choices also look reasonable. The "I'm not so sure about that" picks: - Would not have gone for SJax that high ... with no PPR, DWill or Grant likely would have been my 1.06 pick. - Still not sold on S. Greene. - Jacobs draft position seems a tad high. - I'd not pick Braylon before round 6 in any format. Edited July 17, 2010 by ts
MTSuper7
Good value: 2.04 Aaron Rodgers - He's a borderline first round pick, so getting him in the 2nd to pair with Andre Johnson is fantastic. 3.11 Marques Colston - Is more early to mid 3rd round material IMO 4.01 Greg Jennings - Ditto what I said about Colston 4.09 Steve Smith (CAR) - Is still one of the elites - the broken arm shouldn't be pushing him to late 4th, but it is... He's a steal here. 5.01 Brett Favre - Considering the numbers from last season and the same cast of characters are involved this season, he's a bargain in the 5th round
chamois3805
Great 4th round values with: 4.02 Beanie Wells 4.04 Jonathan Stewart 4.09 Steve Smith (CAR) Beanie should break out this year, especially with the Cards running more. Stewart is going almost 3 rounds later than DWill and has comparable value. Smith started slowly last year, but turned it on after Matt Moore became the starter. John Tuvey took a different track at the #9 when he started out WR A Johnson, QB A Rodgers, WR D Jackson, RB J Stewart and RB J Forsett I think there are more bad value picks than good ones in this draft. Grant, Mathews and Greene were reaches IMO. With Fitz, Austin Marshall and Wayne still on the board. Mendy was a reach too I think, given the Pitt O line. Wayne, White and CJ were value. Lots of this year's crop of RB's carry risk. Greene, Mendy, Wells, Mathews. Stewart and Williams, sure they will run a lot, but considering RBBC, too early. In general, I think TE's were good values across the board. Both S Smith's were good value, especially the CAR version in non PPR. Addai was a great value at 4.12. I like A Johnson @ 1.09. Randall
Where did Portis go? He is one possible sleeper for me(going as the 44th RB-133rd pick in MFL ADP). Hardesty is another.
j2v
Where did Portis go? He is one possible sleeper for me(going as the 44th RB-133rd pick in MFL ADP). Hardesty is another. I took Portis at 6.4 in what ended up being almost a textbook "opposite" draft: the #1 WR and QB, then another top WR, then throw four picks at RBs (Stewart, Forsett, Portis, Spiller) and hope something sticks. 2V
bleacher
I think with all td's at 6pts Rodgers is THE steal at 2.04. I also like Wayne and Clark so late. I hate to ask but just who drafted 7th? 1.07 Turner, 2.06 Brady, 3.07 JACOBS, 4.06 Steve Smith (NYG), 5.07 BREASTON!?!
Go Skins
To me, Greg Jennings at 4.1 is pretty sweet...
Savage Beatings
I have an uneasy feeling about MJD, Ray Rice, and Frank Gore all being drafted so high this season. I'm not saying they are the wrong picks there... but something isn't sitting well with me in general after Chris Johnson and Adrian Peterson go off the board. I'm not saying they are the wrong picks there... but something isn't sitting well with me in general after Chris Johnson and Adrian Peterson go off the board. The exact same thing I felt when I first started reading up on this coming season. I showed some of my buddies a draft magazine and they were laughing about a few of the guys like Mendenhall and Charles being taken where they were. I asked em who they would take instead and they just laughed. Later a few came up and pretty much said how scary it was.

Pip's Invitation
I get that it's no PPR, but there are still too many running backs going very high. That doesn't reflect what the NFL is about these days -- lots of passing and RBBC.

BeeR
Honestly I don't see much in terms of "great" value picks, ie these guys went about where I'd expect, but the best IMO offhand: 1.12 RB Ryan Grant 2.09 QB Peyton Manning 2.12 WR Reggie Wayne 3.01 WR Roddy White 4.03 RB Cedric Benson 4.06 WR Steve Smith NYG 4.11 TE Vernon Davis 5.03 TE Dallas Clark 5.11 TE Brent Celek
