Swiss Cheezhead
I've wanted to have my own salsa recipe for while now, so I've been experimenting with some different ingredients for the last few weeks. After some not-so-great batches (one was more "Sonoran relish" than salsa), I finally made some salsa that's had me addicted for the last few days: 2 tomatoes (large) 1 tomatillo (large) 2 jalapenos 2 pasillas (a.k.a. poblanos) 3 serranos 1/2 white onion (large) 4 cloves fresh garlic 1 tablespoon vinegar 2 tablespoons cilantro (finely chopped) 1/2 lime squeezed 1 tablespoon salt 1 teaspoon pepper 2 teaspoons cumin 1 tablespoon soy sauce I just threw all that into my big food processor and pulsed it until it was a good consistency. I have to admit, the flavor is very...unconventional. It's not going to satisfy a strong tomato-salsa craving, but like I said, I'm addicted to it now. I'm curious what some other folks think of it. Swiss Cheezhead
43 views and zero replies? I guess the answer to my question is "no." I'll ask a different question, then: Does anyone HAVE a unique salsa recipe? I'd like to compare mine to something.
Bier Meister
like your use of tomatillo, poblanos, serranos.... some things that would complement the soy: - ginger - sesame oil - sambal - sriracha - rice wine vinegar

Well, I don't know if it qualifies as a true "salsa" but I basically subbed in Granny Smith apples for tomatoes and it turned out pretty darn good. Brentastic
I always thought the trick to a good salsa was to char the tomatoes and peppers. I've never tried it myself but of the good ones I've had taste like they've been charred.

Scooby's Hubby
must have much hotter - Scooby has a good one that uses all fresh ingredients, diced tomatoes, cilantro, garlic, salt, sirano peppers, etc., except she adds one can of hot rotel for extra heat.
