The Wolf
My local expanded from 12 to 16 teams this season. League is divided into two conferences of 8 teams in a conference. Conferences divided into two divisions of four. We want to play double headers in weeks 1, 2, 3, 11, and 12 and play single games in weeks 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, and 13. This gives us 18 games in a 13-week season. We will wind up playing division rivals twice each (6 games) and all other teams once each (12 games). Division games are played in weeks 1, 2, 3, 11, 12, and 13, when there are no byes. Anyone know of an automated schedule maker that can help me create this? We use MFL and I am thinking of asking customer service for their guidance. I am also thinking of setting up the league for double headers in all 13 weeks, then making the manual changes I need to to create according to our needs, as long as this is not too complex. Thoughts? Thanks in advance!
Big John
From MSHB You can switch the weeks around to match your DH weeks.
Bronco Billy
We do something very similar in TOCOL. 14 team league, 2 conferences, Doubleheaders on non-bye weeks. Gives us a 19 game schedule. The league as a whole loves it, and it tends to Josh Gordon out luck, as well as reward improvement throughout the season more. Suggestions: Schedule your 6 divisional games and the other intra-conference rivals during the non-bye weeks. Reasons for this are: Teams are at full strength per byes when they play the most important games at full strength (discounting injuries). You get a great start to the season but most importantly those doubleheaders during the last couple of weeks really make conference championship races exciting. So let's see what we've got so far: NON-BYE WEEKS (5 weeks X 2 games per week = 10 games) 2X3 = 6 divisional games 4 intra-conference games 10 games during non-bye weeks. That should be fairly easy to set up. Schedule a kind of round robin for the last 2 weeks with divisional doubleheadr games, and that will leave you with some fairly easy scheduling during the first 3 weeks. Now all you have is an 8 week round robin with your out-of-conference games during bye weeks that should be pretty easy to set up. Hope that helps some, GB. Good luck. I am starting with a new company on Monday, so I'd love to get the schedule completed this weekend.
