Samson
In year's past there's certainly been some of this, but this year is insane. Websites having headlines talking about every little injury to a player as if it's a serious item. Every day there are loads of them popping up about a guy needing to be carted off, or someone going to the locker room. There just seems to be a lot of meaningless garbage to sift through. I'm not pointing fingers at our beloved Huddle specifically. All the sites are doing it. Maybe it's just me, but I find it very annoying from an end user's perspective. Make sure it's newsworthy first is all I'm saying.

You do realize that if they didn't bother to report a player had been taken to the locker room for an undisclosed injury when it happened and then, said injury turned out to be serious, everyone would be climbing all over these same sites for being slack. And then they'd point to the few sites that did run with the story the second dude was taken off the field as the truly "on the ball" sites. They've got to fault on the side of over coverage. keggerz
I believe many of the sites use the same news feed provider too.
DMD
This is exactly why we have "Priority News" because from the start we wanted to only report notable news, not every time someone got a hangnail or actually caught a pass in practice. We cull through exponentially more news to only take the pertinent stuff.

tomfin2000
It gets exponentially more annoying when sites use tag lines like a few I saw this morning: "Titans RB Johnson may have dislocated ankle" Of course everyone is going to immediately think it's Chris instead of Stafon and click on the link in a panic. They do that on purpose to try to trick entice people into purchasing a subscription to learn more details. And I agree it is very annoying. If someone did that here in the Forums they would be run out on a rail for it.
Samson
Very true, Savage. I did not think of the subscription angle, but it makes a lot of sense. There's a big difference between erring on the side of caution and over-reporting clearly precautionary stuff. The ultimate result is that a heavy level of useless information waters down the pieces of useful information available. The boy who cried wolf effect could also come into play. Again IMHO this practice by all advice websites does their paying customer's a disservice. Edited August 20, 2010 by Samson

ESPN had a headline after the Monday Night game this week that said, "Eli cut, but feeling ok". For about 2 miliseconds I thought, "THE GIANTS RELEASED ELI????" lol. I had even watched the game and saw him run off the field with blood dripping down his face, but it was a poor choice of wording for the headline.
