Ben Tate possibly out for the season

John McClain's twitter:

I think RB Ben Tate, the second-round pick from Auburn, is done for the year because of a broken ankle. We'll find out Sunday.

Was hoping to grab Foster later in my drafts, but he seems to be climbing up draft boards pretty fast.

I tried trading him to the Tate owner 2 weeks ago(in a dynasty) but he wasn't interested. Last year Foster was a team favorite because the team played better with him in there.Reports I've seen say he has responded well to the competition from Tate so he may not lose the job.

He wasn't drafted(NFL) partly because of off the field problems that he seems to have left behind.

Jones Drew called him his sleeper of the year

"I really like Arian Foster," said MJD. "I think he's a good running back, especially in their system, the Denver system. And I watched him in college too. It's his style -- in that zone system, a bigger back (6-foot-1, 229 pounds) who can get a cut and get his shoulders square. He's going to be a force to be reckoned with. I really like him and I've got some sources, too."

Drew's assessment of RBs interests me almost as much as Melvin Krapper's, but I am starting to warm up to Foster as a sleeper pick. I was holding out hopes for Slaton, but hear he looked pathetic the other day - true it's just one pre-season game, but have heard nothing to the contrary about him so far this year.

Copy cat (From the homer sleeper thread):

Arian Foster HOU RB

Slaton will be used as more of a traditional 3rd down back and Tate will be used to spell Foster and as a short yardage specialist this year. I have a feeling Tate will be nagged by injuries all season.

Just curious why the opinion from one of the better RBs in the league of an upcomming RB would be considered useless? Seems he would be in the best position to offer advice seeing as he knows what it takes.

And we should value your assessment better than a good NFL back because?

He made a few good points about being a good one cut RB and I have read other draft projections that said he would have been drafted much higher but lacked commitment to the game. From what I've read lately he responded well to the drafting of Tate by working hard.

Maybe the rookie got him to take the job seriously.

That's why I hate earlier drafts and how pre-season started so late this year

That's a very good point. In a local we try to draft right before the first game.

They did announce surgery for Tate but he said elsewhere it isn't a broken ankle. If not perhaps it's severely dislocated.
