mindthegap
OK, we're entering the second season of my 4 man, non PPR keeper 12 team league. Everyone has protected their four guys and our draft is this Saturday. So my question is for any others in a 4man keeper leagues, how does your draft work in the following drafts following he initial draft. Is it a snake draft throughout or does it goes 12-1, 12-1, 1-12....and snake from there on out? Thanks for any replies...
Big John
Keepers usually go with the regular snake pattern after keepers are declared.
Big Country
Agree with BJ, the lower the number of keepers, the more I reccomend going directly into a serpentine draft. The higher the number of keepers, the more I reccomend going NFL style, with some combination of the two (ie 3-4 NFL style rounds and then serpentine to finish out)once you get to about 6 or 7 keepers. Big Country
so you'd say 6 keepers is the watershed mark for the change int he draft style? Nothing that would be set in stone and applied in a vacuum to every league, things like: for keepers, are picks forfeited or not, how are they forfeited if so is it a fixed number of keepers or variable size of league size of roster size of starting lineup to name a few of the variables. I have played in leagues ranging from 2-15 (out of 20 man roster) keepers and dynasty leagues, so, based on experience, and under the general assumption of a 9-10 man lineup (1 QB, 2 RB, 3 WR, 1 TE, 1 flex, 1 K and 1 D), in a minimum of 10 ten league, once you get past that 5 to 6 keepers (just about half of a starting lineup), the more stronger teams are able to stay strong and the more important weighting the draft towards the weaker teams (ie, more NFL style rounds) becomes to help maintain somesemblance of balance in the league. The lesser the number of keepers, the less affect you have as in general, every team has 2-3 "stud" players that are worthy keepers, plus a much more talented draft pool, the less importance there is on those keepers and the more value the draft has to each team.
