JUMbotron
http://www.thehuddle.com/fantasy_football_news.php Arizona Cardinals QB Derek Anderson will start the team's preseason game Saturday, Aug. 28, according to ESPN's Chris Mortensen. Huddle Up: This is pretty big if Mortensen's correct. The third preseason game is considered the real tune-up, where it's understood that everyone plays their first-stringers at least a half. Next week it's back to scrubs in the finale. Ken Whisenhunt is giving Anderson a shot to take the job this Saturday night at Chicago. buddahj
I'm not surprised...Leinhart isn't an NFL quality QB, IMO.
Square
I'm thinking about stashing DA if he is available super late and I miss out on Henne or Stafford. I've been considering waiting on a QB and then rostering 3 just to platoon and hope that someone plays well and I miss out on one of the top 5 QBs. DA doesn't seem to have much touch but I like his long ball (and Fitz's value) much better than Leinart's.
piratesownninjas
So Fitzgerald and Doucet aren't playing, and the O Line is a wreck and they're ready to lay all of the blame at Leinart's feet?

This isn't his 1st rodeo. Didn't they have to bring in K. Warner because Leinhart couldn't cut it.

I know this, but it's not DA's first either. What do they expect him to do without Fitz or Doucet? Who do they blame after DA fails?

Pope Flick
I'd say that's reading too much into it: Leinart's been in the system for years now and if he doesn't have it by now then a Week 3 preseason satrt isn't going to help. On the other hand, you've got to get his backup reps taht count so this appears more as depth insurance than him pushing for a starting spot. I think DA gives the Cards a better chance to win. He's proven, at least for 1 season, that he can be a quality QB. Heck, that was in Cleveland with a lot less weapons. If I'm remembering correctly. Leinhart has had many chances to prove himself & he hasn't done anything with the opportunities.

Isn't the third preseason game "the most important preseason game", as they're finalizing roster spots and cementing starting lineups? First two games are for talent evaluation and the fourth/last game is a throw-away to find those last few roster spots. I think it's an indication that Leinart is on the shortest of leashes and the coaching staff will make the switch to Anderson if he proves he can move the offense, especially in this upcoming game. Heck, that was in Cleveland with a lot less weapons. If I'm remembering correctly. Leinhart has had many chances to prove himself & he hasn't done anything with the opportunities. And after that season he's totalled a 12-18 Td/INT ratio, with 5 lost fumbles in that time as well. I watched the Cards game last week... He had a guy open in the endzone and threw it damn near over those mountains ala Uncle Rico. The 2007 year was a fluke, look at Braylon Edwards massive season. It was an abberation at best. I think Leinart is a better play if you're looking for a bus driver, because DA has proven one thing, he's a turnover waiting to happen. At least Captain Checkdown isn't going to be turning the ball over left and right.
dirtdickens
DA had a run of about 8 games against some completely atrocious defenses and then people figured out he couldnt complete anything under 20 yards to save his life. With the Browns playoff hopes in hand, I think he threw 10 picks in the final 3 games, 4 in the Cinci game alone and I remember the Ratbirds killing him. I once saw DA try to hit a fullback(Ali) in the middle of the endzone from the 5 yard line, DA threw that thing through the uprights. The guy is terrible. Sounds like we're betting a shot of tequila: DA needs all the reps he can get this preseason because he's a backup with not much experience in their system. Cowboyz1
As I stated before. The ARZ QB starting week 6 is not currenly on their roster. I just can believe they didn't go out and get a QB in the offseason. If they thought Lightheart could do it then they should have their head examined. heehawks
Now there is a rumor about Arizona possibly trading Leinart to the Heehawks. Are you kidding me? Didn't the Heehawks just make a dumb azz trade for Jesus Whitehurst? If this is even remotely true, what the f are the Heehawks thinking....?????? ABearWithFurniture
John Skelton...remember that name. Guy has a rocket for an arm. Fitz easily shoots back up to a top 1-2 receiver.

Avernus
they can have Vick if they want him....and I bet Andy Reid could make Leinart into a good QB

Saw it in the priority news on this site, and also heard it on local sports radio here in Seattle. I don't think it has legs, but the Heehawks are making an exorbanant amount of moves this year. So anything is possible under the new regime.
