Denver starting RB week #1

With Justin Fargas released, Moreno "ginger," and Buckhalter still mucking around, would anyone consider Lance Ball as a possible spot start in week #1? I'm in a 12-team standard that requires 2RB, 3WR and a flex, so a guy like this could have value for a week or two. I'm not talking full season potential or even draftability, just more as a sneaky start until Moreno and Buckhalter heal up.

I think that if you're considering Lance Ball as a FF starter in week 1 you've got big problems.

While I can appreciate the skepticism, my thinking was that a starting RB for Denver has to have, on average, more value than a WR3 or RB3/WR4. In this particular league, you're definitely starting a WR3.

If Moreno/Buckhalter are still on the shelf and McDaniels comes out and says that Ball is going to be the man week 1, you're probably right. The problem is, it's week 1 and you have no idea how Denver is going to handle this. I highly doubt McDaniels tips his hand either.

I can't even begin to guess with McDaniels. He's a couple of degrees worse than Shanahan.. I do know that DEN is very likely to struggle to run the ball all year, and that even a healthy Moreno is a strong candidate to be an underacheiver this year, much less someone like LenWhale White, Ball, Hall, or whomever they put back there. The O-line is a bad mix of inexperience, players recovering from injury, and journeymen.

For what it's worth, I think Orton's health is at risk as well, and the quality depth at QB is just as bad as it is at RB.
