Ahmad Bradshaw's chance...

I don't want to say I saw this one coming, however, I have drafted him in two om my money leagues as my 3rd back. In watching and reading some internet sites, it seemed that the coaching staff was wanting to get him the ball more, as a RB to get him out on the edge, and they could use him more than Jacobs more regularly. I think he gives the NYG more of a chance to win also...

Brandon Jacobs on not being the starting RB:

"It's almost hard to stay positive in a situation like this, but that's what I've got to do," Jacobs said. "This is a cutthroat, backstabbing business ... It's been like that before me. If you expect anything else out of a business like this you're crazy."

Way to devote yourself to the team, big boy!

I'm not sure it really matters all that much. It's not as though he'll be a featured back unless Jacobs gets hurt. Whether he's getting 40% or 60% of carries just inches him back and forth on the RB2/RB3 line. With that said, he's clearly the better back and maybe he:

a. Performs so amazingly well that Coughlin can't take him off the field

b. Stays healthy

Still two more big hurdles to clear before I'd get too excited.

The best you can have with Bradshaw is cautious optimism. He's coming off of surgery on both feet, and the Giants have been trending more toward the pass due to OL issues. That being said, he's the RB to own in NYG-land, though both Jacobs and Bradshaw are coming off the board late enough to be considered decent values as RB3/Flex options IMO. Bradshaw's ADP seems to be creeping up a little though - but when you think of how well he ran on two bum wheels at the end of last season, there's reason to feel good about his potential for becoming a reliable RB2.

News Articles > Brandon Jacobs Upset About Giants' RB Situation Published Fri Sep 3 12:38:29 p.m. ET 2010

(FFChamps) New York Giants Running Back, Brandon Jacobs, is upset with how the team has split up carries between him and Ahmad Bradshaw during the Pre-Season. After receiving ZERO rushes in last night's Pre-Season finale, Jacobs had plenty to say in the locker room following the game. "No one's your friend in this business. This is a cutthroat, backstabbing business." said Jacobs. Although it's just the Pre-Season, keep in mind Ahmad Bradshaw has been named the starter for Week 1 against the Panthers.

No work in week 4 of PS for an established vet is usually a sign of a starter. I'm not sure what Jacobs is upset about other than he loves to be on the field.

You do know that the starting offense started that game? Coughlin was disgusted by the way they played week 3 that he wanted 1 drive with the starting unit that is going to play next Sunday. They actually did good and scored a TD.

Bradshaw is the starter and will get 65% of the carries(more or less), Jacobs is on the outs with the org as he has trouble staying healthy and is not the reciever that Bradshaw is. I would love if Jacobs would accept his role , as he could be great in the fourth qu as a "closer" type. Just pounding away at the defense after they spent the whole day chasing Bradshaw around the field.

Nope - didn't see the game I didn't know that Coughlin had all his starters out in the first series. But I do know that I've seen Coughlin handle his RBs for a few years, and it's frustrating as a FF owner. I'm not sure why he'd change from being a RBBC coach who turns to the hot hand when that RB shows he's on for that game.

We'll see. Like I said, I'm a Bradshaw owner so I'm actually hoping this is the case.

I think Bradhsaw owners should be extremely excited at how this is transpiring. Hypothetically, what if Jacobs retreated into more of a McGahee role -- pieces/parts, short yardage, a nice handful of TDs -- and Bradshaw was unleashed between the 20s, a la Rice?
