Two leagues, same owners, varied buy-ins

First, I understand that this post could easily go into the advice forum, but the nature of this situation is different than any WDIS or rate my team post, as it is a universal and general situation that anyone could potentially fall into. So I thought I'd post here...

Tonight I draft my first ever live auction. I organized this with some local friends mainly because I keep hearing how much better it is... But an interesting situation has arisen which I'm curious about. The buy in for this 12-team auction league is $25, and I'm also in a second, and much more competitive, serpentine redraft league with three of the owners. That second league drafts on Monday and has a $175 buy-in. I like to be competitive in all of my leagues, but truth be told, I don't really want to tip my hand a whole lot on the players I value in this auction draft tonight if it gives these guys some insight into who I might covet come Monday. So, two questions:

1) In a situation like this, should I change anything with my strategy in the cheaper auction league?

2) What information, if any, might I glean from watching these three guys draft that can become useful information for the more competitive league draft? (i.e. If one of these guys overpays for a Johnny Knox of Jermichael Finley, should I be more likely to reach for them?)

I say that in the auction league you don't act bullishly toward any of your sleepers and let things come to you....

I'd even take a risk on a player I know is good, but don't feel 100% about just to throw off the scent because even though I want to win every league I'm in, the other league holds more priority....

pretty much keep your head on a swivel and go after the "obvious" players...and try not to get into any bidding wars for any player outside of the top 3 tiers...

If you're thinking about it this way, chances are they are as well.

I play in an auction dynasty which I consider my no.1 league, which holds it's draft this Saturday. Four of those guys including myself are in another league with a 4 man keeper set up. I know that one of them drafted a little differently to try and throw everyone off for this weekend...

Another guy drafted to his board as he always does, and the third guy showed us a lot of his game plan going into the weekend.

I'd just set values to your tiers and stick to it. That way you don't get caught up in tipping your hand, nor will you over pay. If you see one of them with an intchy trigger finger with Knox, Finley, or whoever, then that may be an indicator for things to come.

Then again, they could all do what the first owner above did and switch it up a little bit.

Basically had the same deal with a Friday draft for a father/son for fun league followed by a Saturday draft for a $$$ league. Four of us play in both. 5 players I drafted in the Friday night for fun league ended up on my brother-in-laws $$$ league roster. It happens.

However, it wasn't a huge deal because I don't target specific players as much as I target value. So if a guy I want gets taken before I get him, there are usually different options available and the player stolen was not as much of a value where he was taken.

That said, I would expect the auction dynamic will help obscure your redraft strategy.
