Are the Lions still a crap run D?

Not wanting to get into a WDIS (although it will impact some early-season decisions for me), but what are the Huddles' thoughts on the Lions as a run D this year? This was a team that ranked in the bottom quarter against the run last year and allowed 18 rushing scores (6th worst in the NFL). But with the addition of Suh and Vanden Bosch, I wonder if just looking at last year's stats and assuming the Lions will be mediocre/bad again is wise.

Without much to go on, are the Lions still a safe "play the opposing RB" team to start the season?

Well, with the additions that you mentioned, the Lions defense against the rush is bound to be better. But it is still not going to be very good.

Another thing to consider is that the Lions secondary is probably the worst in the league, and opponents are likely to throw the ball, early and often, with great success.

That being said, I would start my RBs against them with confidence, but not be surprised if all 4 TDs went to the WRs.

I think they are more of a "start opposing QB's and WR's" then RB's this season. There secondary and linebackers aren't very good and I actually do believe they'll be alot better against the run, Suh should be getting in the backfield and causing a lot of disruption this year.

Lions are a prime RB opponent. Expect the opposing team to grab an early lead and run the crap out of the ball the 2nd half. Good or Bad Run D really won't be an issue when you have an offense thats gonna stuff it down there throats in the 2nd half on a consistent basis.

No and I think the Raiders will be better this year too but how much?

The Lions secondary and middle LB are greater concerns for me.There isn't a lot of depth there so Delmas should clean up fantasy-wise.

Why bother running when you can pile up easier points through the air? Chris "toast" Houston and Jonathan Wade?
