FinZone
So I am commish in a 10 team yahoo fantasy league for 2nd consecutive year. The current dilemma is that since our draft took place the day after the minny/NO game, our league standings settings were automatically set to begin week 2 match-up results. However, week 1 winners want it to count and obviously the losers don't, so a poll would be useless. People who drafted players from that thurs game got the points for those players in that game. But no one had a problem with that and our draft went pretty regular. What should i do and what reasoning do I incorporate? Need some logic...especially from my fellow huddler commishs. Big Country
Umm, did you not have a clear decision on this before you drafted? One would think this is a fairly important thing to know ahead of time. For what it is worth, the World Championships of Fantasy Football draft on the Friday and Saturday after the first Thursday game. Matchups start week one. Players that played on Thursday count if started by their respective teams.
keggerz
Winners want it to count and losers dont.....so ask them if they think week 1 shouldn't count why they submitted a lineup.
The 13ers
They count UNLESS it was agreed that they don't beforehand. End of story.
Big Country
They count UNLESS it was agreed that they don't beforehand. End of story. If the league default setting were that they don't count, why would this be the case?
Cowboyz1
The only way to be fair to all team is to treat week 1 as a preseason. Meaning it does not count towards the standings. The league is set to start on week 2 for a reason. This should have been sorted out priot to the league draft but since it wasn't in essence there was no week 1 for your league since each team did not have equal access to ALL point scoring players period. The pick order directly favored those who could chose to have points in hand or not. I have never heard of any FF league that can select players that already have points on the board. That doesn't make sense. The only way to make it fair is to allow every team to select a player or players after they have played so they get the same advantage as those who were able to do so in week 1, which is rediculous. There is no way you can count week 1 in your standings unless everyone was on equal footing from the start. I wish I could pick players after they had played, I mean we all would. Come on that goes against everything fantasy football. No week one standings, league starts week 2. Simple as that. There is no other way to be fair to every team. WCOFF does this. If you significantly alter draft strategy based on the results of a single game, you are generally making a major strategy flaw. It is only one game, two teams. The key is that whether or not week one counts is clearly defined beforehand. In this case, it was not and the default setting was that week one did not count, so I would lean towards that being the ruling.

lkirc
You have yourself a mess there. Lose-Lose for you, but I would just make a quick decision and let the complaining begin. Don't count Week 1 and then try to keep the league together. Messy!

Complete and utter BS......I would like the OP to let us know if everyone submitted a lineup for week 1...if someone didn't than that is one thing but he said the ones that lost don't want it to count and the ones that won do....that reads to me as people submitted lineups.....you don't submit a lineup if you don't think the week is going to count
