MFL waiver setup question

Anyone here knowlegeable about setting up waivers to run at MFL? I tried to set it up to run like my league ran on CBS but it's just not working. I tried their forums but didn't get a response. Here's what I am trying to do:

Waivers run Wed 3am with dropped players becoming locked for 1 day. After waivers run all other players can be FCFS (free agent pickups). Waivers will then run each night for the previously locked dropped players.

here's a link to my league http://www7.myfantasyleague.com/2010/home/69779#0

yea I am having the same issue where I want to lock the free agents every sunday at 1pm through until 5pm tuesday during which period the players not on a roster can be claimed I have this working fine. I then want to lock any player dropped at anytime for 2 days and have that player available to be bid on aswell. the last part is the part that won't work for me as it creates a conflict and locks nothing up during game time.

I do want it to be FCFS during the week outside of the games after the waiver period.

You need to start your waivers at some time prior to Wed 3:00 AM - I suggest Sunday afternoons. Opening waivers just allows teams to submit requests, not get players.

Then set it to end Wed at 3:00 AM. This is when owners will be awarded players. Have this event repeat 13 more times or however many weeks you have in the season.

Remove the "players are locked" rule you have.

Add a new event for First Come First Serve to start at Wed 3:00 AM and end when you want it to - probably Sunday at 1:00. Then have this repeat 13 more times as well.

When logged in as commissioner, so to Setup -> Waivers/Free Agents Setup. The first option in there will allow you to lock players that have been dropped for your designated time frame.

Here's our league calendar so you can see what it looks like. We don't lock out dropped players, but we have waivers run Friday night with FCFS after that.

Fleming, the only problem with this is that they want individual players to be locked for a set period of time based on when they are dropped and only those players be up for waivers with all others being FCFS.

Unless there was a major change that I missed at MFL (very possible as I am not commishing any leagues this year), I believe the plyaer by player waiver period is not supported.

You want free for all on all the hot pickups of the week but an ordered waiver run of the rejects people are dropping?

My first post was slightly incorrect anyway. the first option wasn't to designate time. The option looks like this:

The player is not locked - owners may immediately pick up or request that player, subject to standard waiver rules.
The next time waivers are processed.
_____ days later.
On _____ (day of week) at _____________ time

So you can do what you want.

1. Have FCFS set up to open whenever you want

2. Choose this option, select 2nd choice "The next time waivers are processed"

3. Schedule waivers as you prefer, instructions above.

If you want it on per-player basis, try third option. I have no idea how this works on execution though. It reads like it's per-player but I don't know that for sure. Also, I don't know what they mean by "___ days later" - is this ____ times 24 hours from the minute the player was dropped, or is it a the ____th occurance of 7:00 AM EST? MFL is pretty literal, so I would expect it to be the former but have no direct experience with it.

Not me, I'm quoting the OP.

He wants:

1. Ordered Waiver Run for all non-rostered players

2. FCFS for all non-rostered, not just dropped players after #1 runs

3. Nightly waiver window on all just dropped players

One of the few things that I do not believe MFL can handle is the separate waiver period for dropped players. They can do a nightly waiver run that encompasses all non-rostered players (but this eliminates the FCFS period as it would be waiver based), and they can lock dropped players for a predetermined amount of times (majority of leagues I am involved with have players locked until the following week's waiver run).

MFL can easily handle 1 and 2 above, it's setting up #3 that I believe would be a problem.

Oops, sorry didn't check names.

See previous post above but I think they can get pretty close to what they want with that option.

I think this is the option that you need, right below the other Waiver/Free Agent options:

Allow owners to submit requests for recently dropped (or "locked") players separately from other players (free agents), as subject to league calendar rules?

But I also don't really understand why you'd want to allow FCFS for free agents, but place restrictions on guys who are dropped? Don't really see the point.

Yup, and that is one of the newer enhancements put in place since I last commished. At least MFL responded to the demand for it.

Like you, I don't care for it, it is a rotisserie baseball/basketball concept where you are submitting lineups daily and not particularly football relevant, but to each their own.

Thanks guys. I found that option and just hadn't gotten back to post a reply. This is my league's first year at MFL; we had spent the previous 10 at CBS. Having dropped players go through waivers just gives everyone a chance to grab them if they want. And this is only after the full waiver session is done Wed am. As I am sure you know once guys are used to things it's very hard to change. I'd be open to having dropped players not go through waivers but it was a battle enough to just get the owners to agree to go to MFL.

Now one thing I don't like is that they voted for season rolling waivers. I had wanted to do worst to first but with rolling within each weak. Hopefully next year I can convince them to just worst to first.

IMO, what you have with the dropped players going through waivers after a waiver period is fine. I would venture to guess that the majority of leagues simply have dropped players locked until the following week, but so long as they are not available for immediate pickup and have to go through some form of a waiver period, I would be fine with it.

Rolling waiver, eh, not a hugh fan of it, not exactly opposed to it. Pros and cons to any waiver order format. Try and convince them to go to a bidding system.

Actually this isn't all the big of a deal, the comments are coming from the (incorrect?) interpretation of your rules being FCFS for all FA's but only having dropped players go through waivers. If you have a full waiver run first, then all dropped players on waivers for X time afterward, that's far less non-traditional.

yes we have a full waivers running Wed AM, then dropped players are to be locked for 1 day then waivers run on them. FCFS on any other FA after the full waivers run. Then lockdown from Sunday - Wed AM.
