you just got dummied by about the 7th best Pac 10 team in your house!!! yer offense is brutally bad and UCLA's athletic Defense is better than the vaunted Texas D - and UCLA is a non-factor in the Pac 10 this year - and they win in a rout

Great road W for UCLA and the Pac 10 - well done boys

GO BEAVS & GO CATS TONIGHT

WAR PAC 10

LMAO, TEXAS, OUR TEXAS, OH HAIL THE MIGHTY STATE, TEXAS OUR TEXAS, SO WONDERFUL AND GREAT... clearly sucks. They havent played anyone yet, and it showed today against a doormat team from a doormat conference.

Texas gets OU then Nebraska. That should be 3 quick losses and I wouldn't be surprised if they end up with 4 or maybe 5 losses on the season.

Clearly not even close to being one of the top 7 teams in the country, Mack gets out coached again, turnovers did not help and I thought the D was much better than they showed yesterday. Long season to go, bring on OU and NEB.

OU vs Texas is a wildcard because the serious hate between those two. Nebraska still has a struggling offense and the defense can be ran against so we'll see. They always play Texas close and I think Nebraska should win that game, but it just depends on who shows up. I was never really sure that TX could lose McCoy and Shipley (obviously among others) and expect to be anywhere near as good as they were last year. The preseason rankings have more to do with legacy and previous year bowl games than anything. I wish they would do away with them but then the NCAA can't hype two "top 10" teams playing each other in week 2.

Or "top 10" Boise State vs "top 10" Virginia Tech in Week 1?

Win doesn't really make me think the entire pac10 is amazing based off of one game, especially considering Texas hasn't been playing well all year. Nebraska played like idiots Saturday, clearly giving no respect to SDSU. A win over Texas is definitely not a shoe-in. Should be a good game. Not sure what to expect out of the big 12 this year, but OVERALL it probably won't be too bright!

That said, neither beavers nor the cats were that impressive so lets calm down on the pac10 hype.

I'm a Texas fan, and I don't see them finishing in the top 5 this year. Too many losses on both sides of the ball. I see them finishing the season ranked somewhere between 10 and 15.

Wish I had your optimism, but I don't trust the Soph, and we don't have a bell cow RB. I don't see how our Defense can be as good, loosing Thomas, Kindle, Houston and Muckelroy.

The UCLA game is probably the worst game I've seen Texas play in the Mack Brown era. I think they were probably looking ahead to next week against OU, and didn't take UCLA seriously. This lack of focus which should be blamed on Brown caused a number of crucial mistakes and 5 turnovers. Texas does not have the offense to overcome the number of mistakes they made in this game. Once they were down by two scores the game was over. I'm not taking anything away from UCLA, they played a great game, and definitely deserved the win. I don't see Texas making nearly as many mistakes in games going forward. Additionally Newton who is arguably their best RB did not play against UCLA. I still see them as a top 15-20 team, this year and a real contender next year once their young talent matures, particularly if they end up signing Malcolm Brown (#2 RB prospect in the nation) who has verbally committed to them.

+1

It's easy to forget, but the mid 80s to mid 90s were rife with Texas teams always losing to some 1-4 A&I Poly Tech team the week before a marquee matchup, en route to a 1 or 2 loss season. They stumbled this week for sure but they're fine in the long run.

agreed- just 1 game, but it shocked the hell out of me how easily UCLA ran the ball down their throats - and had the far more athletic defense....

Pac 10 is strong this year tho- right behind the SEC as the 2nd best conference so far IMO

Texas probably made the right call staying in the backwater 12 and not joining the Pac 10...... that team I watched would be lucky to finish in the top half of the Pac 10 this year........

oh and that QB Nebraska has is fantastic - Robinson is getting all the hype and he should - Martinez is faster tho, when he hits the corner it is over

Obviously, I'm pretty far from a Texas fan, but they can compete in any conference. They're fans are delusional momos  but the team has been pretty good since Mac Brown got there.

Shhh..... He couldn't throw a completion last Saturday to save his life but he runs like the wind. Haven't had a straight line QB this fast since Crouch.

I didn't watch very much of the Texas game but that box score is a little scary if you are a texas fan. UCLA only threw the ball 9 times all day? I realize Texas had 5 turnovers which is a killer regardless, but if a team like UCLA can average over 4 yards per carry and they don't even try to throw on you..... It'll be interesting to see who shows up for the big OU vs Texas game. I'm actually surprised there isn't a red river thread yet as the fans of those two programs are pretty rabid about hating each other.

Neither team has a legit chance for playing in the big game this year. While I'll continue to watch, it takes some of the enthusiasm out of it. I typically go to the Red River Shootout, but I knew how mediocre both teams would be going into the season and instead plan to spend the day at the deer lease. Of course I'll watch some of the game prior to going out for the afternoon hunt, unless I kill the big buck I'm looking for, then I'll watch the whole game.

Gotta love it when some cornpicker tries to make a ha-ha and misspells a word a third grader would be able to handle.

Yea, I used a contraction instead of the correct possessive pronoun. Just typing too fast. Besides, I doubt the average Texas fan would really want to get into a spelling contest.

# Texas is #49 in verbal SAT scores in the nation (493) and #46 in average math SAT scores (502).

# Texas is #36 in the nation in high school graduation rates (68%).

Just a shame he didn't make it further in the TX game, might have been fun to see what he could have done in 4-quarters.......The Texas defense look like they had SEC speed for most of that game..
