i'm expecting more of the same from the SF offense. according to reports, Jimmy Raye was just calling the plays that Singletary dictated (i.e. run, run, short pass). Singletary has enough ego that he may continue on this course of "we can win with smashmouth football" just to prove a point, and the new OC will just be a puppet (and eventually scapegoat).

the real issue hasn't been addressed by coaching or management: Alex Smith. he's plateaued as a player and no one with any authority to change the situation is willing to do so (reference Coach Sing's ego "Smith is our guy," and buffonery in the front office: Yorks). until Smith is replaced, SF receivers will be working with a handicap under center. Gore will still get a majority of touches, and the O-line will continue to struggle due to youth and inexperience.

i'm hopeful that Edward's dismissal in BUF will open up some eyes and show that significant early/mid season change at QB can be done and result in a moderate level of success. at 0-3 they might as well make a change. b

but what do i know - i'm just a lifelong fan and FFL dork.
