WorstCoachingEver
1. GB challenges Jones fumble at 2:18. With a change of possession, GB had plenty of time to look at replays before wasting a TO on a worthless challenge. 2. GB doesn't let CHI score from 9 yard line with only 1 timeout and 1:44 left in game. Since CHI was too stupid to knee the ball 3x down to :08 seconds, LET Chicago score. 3. CHI doesn't knee the ball on any of the downs inside 10 yard line. This is just dumb. A fumble has to be 3x more likely than a miss from 26 yards. 4. GB doesn't call TO after Forte run on 1st and goal from 9 yard line. Clock goes from 1:44 to :59. If you aren't going to let them score on 1st down, at least call a timeout after the 1st play, anything can happen afterwards. Further proof that NFL coaches have the same Wonderlic scores as their players.

Bronco Billy
I was screaming at the TV (and others in the bar were watching me with horrified looks) to both not challenge the fumble ruling (some coach in the booth needs their head handed to them for that judgment) and then afterwards to have the D allow Forte to walk into the end zone untouched on the first run at the goal line. Given the timeout situation, it seemed much more rational to try to let Rodgers walk down the field with a minute a a half left to tie the game up after letting the Bears score than to try to stop Gould from kicking a 17.5 yd FG with a few seconds left on the clock. For NFL coaches there's a strange need to appear to be in control. Or a need to appear to be fighting the other team at all costs. I dunno. Maybe it's just groupthink by a tiny group of people working within a very insular decision making process. It's probably just a whole lotta face saving...a 24-17 loss looks worse than a 20-17 loss especially when everyone will remember you told the defense not to lineup for the game winner. It's just not a profession or position that lends itself to creative or critical thinking. Which stinks because it would probably make the game more fun to watch. I don't like all his stuff but I like when MMQB writes about seemingly wacky coaching strategy that actually works, or would probably work as much or more of the time than the standard. I still like his idea of an offense that almost never punts.

daylight
@kingfish247 "it's just not a profession or position that lends itself to creative or critical thinking" ... and yet Mike McCarthy is one of the brightest creative offensive minds in professional football today. It's the reason TT hired him in the first place. It's the reason the GBP offense is universally thought of as Elite. Never give up. Never give your players the impression of giving up. I have seen numerous times where a simple up the middle running play results in a turnover, both in the NFL and the USFL. I have seen so many "automatic" field goal attempts end in blocks and/or returns (sometimes for touchdowns). Better to stay aggressive on a single play at the end of the game against all odds - it bodes well for the rest of the season. Life long GBP homer here with no issues on the HC at the end. Chavez
I still like his idea of an offense that almost never punts. Yeah, that seems like a winner to me. Go for it on anything less than 4th and 5, or maybe when you're inside your own 35. Other than that, it's all 4-down territory.
BeerLeagueQB
I needed the Bears to win by 4 to win $350 on my $12 parlay bet... needless to say... I went absolutely ape **** crazy when I saw Forte get shut down on the goal line... I'm going to be bitter about that for a very long time. rai
after the fumble 2:18 to go, Cutler threw two incomplete passes (second one called back due to holding penalty). They would have run three plays this side of the 2 minute warning without letting GB take a time-out had not the second down been called back
