theeohiostate
A league source tells ESPN's Tim Graham that Fred Jackson has been named the starting running back in Buffalo. This confirms Tuesday's report that Jackson's role would be noticeably larger following the trade of Marshawn Lynch. Jackson needs to be owned in all formats and can be used as a flex option. C.J. Spiller is worth hanging onto, but fantasy owners will be hard pressed to put him in their starting lineups with Jackson seeing the majority of early-down carries. Buffalo draft Spiller at #9 , then decides to see what they have in a veteran Jackson first ???? Popeye
Just because Jackson is named the starter does not mean he will get more reps. C.J. will prevail in a couple of weeks IMO. This is a nice way of showing respect to your veteran. Spiller will blow up against Jacksonville porous D this week and then it will be on. BeeR
Just because Jackson is named the starter does not mean he will get more reps. Beat me to it. lol @ how much people put into who the starter is. All that REALLY means is he is in on the first snap. BFD. This could be Jackson getting most carries, CJ getting most (doubtful at least until later in the year), or - most likely IMO - a 1a/1b thing. PS: when I frst saw this I thought Favre's sorry butt was finally benched. Edited October 6, 2010 by BeeR
BearBroncos
Very true. Just need to look at the Jets for validation of that. Greene's listed as the starter, but we know the true story. Granted, Greene will be the featured back and Jackson won't.

Popeye
Let me guess-you must have Spiller on your FF team Actually I do in my local dynasty league. I have DeAngelo, Charles, and Best as well so I am not in dire need of C.J. Spiller just yet.
Balzac
FJax will step into the role that Lynch was playing, no? Anyone assuming he'll be the 2009 version of FJax is going to be sorely disappointed. He'll be maybe 2/3 of that production.
damageinc
Remember at the begining of the season Spiller was named the starter and Lynch and Jackson got all the carries. Well that just shows that we have no clue what will happen.
piratesownninjas
They're saving Spiller's legs... for the next coach. Why would they want to pound Spiller when they know they have no shot at doing anything this year? Just keep him involved, but don't over work him. Dallas Sooner
Jackson is a complete back. Spiller is Reggie Bush. Agree. Jackson is the Pierre Thomas Spiller is the Reggie Bush. But it is Buffalo's OL and piss poor Qb play we are talkin about. Edited October 7, 2010 by Dallas Sooner

No2011Lockout
Maybe trying to motivate Spiller? Poor guy needs to get the hell out of dodge.
murp0837
Jackson is the better back at this point. As a Bills fan, it seems that Spiller is having a hard time adjusting to the speed of the game. He looks more like Reggie Bush than he does a Chris Johnson.

Plus thre is no reason to pound Spiller now. He'll learn and get his time. While the BUF OL currently blows, this situation reminds me a little of Fred Taylor MJD, the early years.
