theeohiostate
I think that all but raps up Portis as a starting RB in this league If not for all his injuries, he was a good back
CowboysDiehard
Meh. I have him on only one roster. Not surprised by this. Torain was never an option because this is Bronco country, and old habits die hard for the owners in my league, so I've been flipping rocks for the likes of Michael Bush, Mike Tolbert, BJGE, etc... for a few weeks now. Picked up then dropped Keiland Williams already. Never expected Portis to last the year, was hoping for a few spot starts from him. For me, even though my RB corps is second tier at best, Portis is expendable at this point.

Hope he managed his money well Doubt he'll be much of an entrepreneur.

golfishgrace
"]Rick Maese reports that Coach Mike Shanahan says running back Clinton Portis will miss four to six weeks with a third-degree groin separation." cant say i have ever heard of that.. how do you seperate your groin? Sure does not sound good.
JUMbotron
It's an awful injury. A tear. Fred Taylor did it in week 3 years ago. He missed the whole season. Drop Portis right now.

untateve
I picked up kw in a couple of leagues. I have portis in one. then shanny dumped kw. I dumped kw. Once portis is done, I will never again own a RB from a team shanny owns. Never.

BeerLeagueQB
Just dropped him for Felix Jones. I should have added Torain last week instead of keeping Louis Murphy.. I knew that was gonna end up biting me in the ass. Oh well, I got Torain in 1/3 leagues right now.

PPIchamp
I've got Torain in 4/5 leagues, but unfortunatley not in the league where I have most money at stake.

Thats a good thing, 'cuz if you are banking on Torain, then there's some issues. a couple of years ago, this site was going nutz for Torain...I bought into it, picked him up, watched him score on MNF for the Broncos, and then go down...... Like Portis, I think it's not if Torain goes down, but when....

Like Portis, I think it's not if Torain goes down, but when.... I don't think there's any more issues with Torain than any other RB. At the rate starting rbs are getting injured this year, its almost a 50/50 chance he gets dinged at some point. Just ask Grant, McCoy, Jackson, Taylor, McFadden, Moreno, Portis, Turner & Rice. That's 8 RBs in 4 weeks with varying degrees of injury. Extrapolate that number of 17 weeks, and its over 32 RBs expected to be hurt in some way. That's not Torain...thats life as an MFL running back.
PPIchamp
It's just that I was ahead of the curve in all my leagues but that one, I missed out on getting him out of the FA pool for nothing, I hesitated a day or two because I wasn't sure who I'd want to drop in that particular league at the time, and missed out. I remember the torrid Torain hype back in Denver, it left as quickly as it showed up, heh.

So to say there arent any more issues than any other RB is not really accurate..Prior to this year, Grant has been pretty healthy..same with Rice.....McCoy... All of the RB"s you mentioned above has been on the field a lot more than Torain has... you are right, players are going down a lot this year...All I'm saying is we've heard this song before about Torain and his potential, only to see him get injured.....Maybe he proves me wrong, goes on to have a solid year, which would be great...... kingfish247
I don't think there's any more issues with Torain than any other RB. He hasn't played a full season since 2006. 2007 he broke his foot. Half of 2008 was gone thanks to a broken elbow. Prior to Sep 26, his last down of real football was Nov 6, 2008 when he tore his ACL. Maybe everything comes together for him and his FF owners the rest of this season and beyond. But let's approach Torain's 'issues' here with eyes wide open. Remember "fragile" fred taylor? in his rook year(98) he played in 15 games....99: 10 games, 00: 13 games & 01: 2 games....fred surely looked like he deserved the "Fragile" moniker...but then all he did was play in each game for the next two years (yep 32 straight)....people that dismissed him because of his previous injuries then missed out on a 1722 total yard 8 TD season in 02 and a 1942 total yard 7 TD season....just something to chew on is all. and I should point out that I am not saying that Torain is as talented as Fred but rather using how injured Fred was to point out that players can overcome what is perceived to be an injury prone persona Edited October 6, 2010 by keggerz
