REZ
II guess watching all potential trade partners make their moves and Floyd go for 200 plus changed his mind. Maybe we can have him play special teams so can win a couple games.
splotchman
Does anybody know if this means he can play by 10/31? Or does he still have to sit out games?
v0dka
I really don't see that he's worth anything more than trade bait with their bye week coming up.
Riffraff
Does anybody know if this means he can play by 10/31? Or does he still have to sit out games? He sits for 3 weeks AFTER he signs his tender.

budlitebrad
I could grab him in one league, but I can't see him strolling right in and putting up 100/1 in time for playoffs. Probably won't be in sync with Rivers yet and would he really be trying that hard or just doing the bare minimum to accrue a season?
Riffraff
That doesn't make sense. Don't you need six games to accrue a season? 6 weeks = Week 12, 13, 14, 15, 16,
Grits and Shins
So VJ blinks first ... doesn't matter he won't be relevant this year and won't get the pay day he is expecting next year
Riffraff
So VJ blinks first ... doesn't matter he won't be relevant this year and won't get the pay day he is expecting next year This has always been a business decision by both sides. There's still time to re-sign VJ to a long term deal. It's his turn on the contract ladder. Only thing holding back talks is VJ not signing the tender. stethant
I don't think this has anything to do with VJax blinking. Mankins was advised to do the same thing. Â http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/news/story?id=5683051

http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/news/story?id=5683051  Sure it does ... he "blinked", doesn't matter who advised him to do so. He has been threatening all along to sit out the entire season ... but when it came down to it he did what almost all players in his position do - they show up just in time to get their 6 games in so that they season counts. BearBroncos
As a Malcolm Floyd owner, I am not happy about this.  I would not worry. I think VJax shot his AJ load and there will be a trade eventually. Floyd has more than proven himself.
Eagle2003
I don't think this will hurt Floyd's value that much anyway. He has proven a rapport with Rivers.

I guess what I'm saying is that they're not going to get a humbled VJax who comes back with his tail between his legs. They're going to get a wideout with a really bad attitude who will be just enough of a team player not to get suspended, accrue his time, and then get the f out of d. I guess in that sense I agree with you. This could be a classic example of AJ winning the battle and losing the war.
MTSuper7
I don't think this will hurt Floyd's value that much anyway. He has proven a rapport with Rivers. Â Whereas this is true, what do you think is going to happen when VJax returns? Do you think they will just bench him. Because I'm guessing that Jackson might need to prove himself in those last six weeks to potential suitors for next season. If he whines and doesn't play or perform, how does that help him get the payday he wants? If Vincent Jackson is on the field, it will affect Malcom Floyd because there are only so many passes to go around in that offense, and I wouldn't expect Gates' numbers to change at all from this move. That leaves Floyd as the guy with the most value at risk. Rapport is nice, but Rivers is the kind of QB that will throw it to the guy that's open. He won't force feed Floyd just because they have rapport. Â Do people honestly think that VJax will simply report but not get on the field at all? MTSuper7
pretty much. Oww! My hammy!  I think that he thinks that he's *already* proven himself. Didn't he lead the league in yards/target last year?  I don't think he'll risk injury for $225,000.  We'll see how stupid he is. Floyd has pretty much proven that maybe VJax is nothing special. Whether you would start him or not is not the only decision. Do you want the waiver wire vulture to put him up against you in the playoffs? Are you that sure that VJax won't put up one hell of an audition for his new team? Â Better think about this.

I think the real question is whether SD even includes him in the game plan, i.e. Moss in NE before getting traded. Floyd has thus far proven to be an adequate replacement and complement to Gates. AJ may just give VJax the finger and use him as a decoy as a going away present.

Yeah, I could see that if they were out of contention, or had the division sewn up. Call me crazy but it seems to me the Chargers might need all hands on deck to even make the post-season. Desperate times call for desperate measures and all...
