Singletary..Interesting thoughts....

I know that many of you may not remember this, but for some reason I do....

A few years ago, the QB for the Detroit Lions, Jon Kitna, had a baseball cap on with a cross or some religious symbol and he got fined, or punished, for it from the league....Does anyone remember this story?

The only reason I bring it up is that Mike Singletary sports a huge cross around his next at games.....If you look at MSN today, he has it on under the "famous handshake snubs" when he refused to shake the hand of the Atlanta Falcons coach after the game...

Just wandering about this and if any action had/has or will be taken, or is it o.k. to do this now?

The NFL actually went back on the fine after much outrage, which makes sense, since the rule is only in place to prevent players from wearing non-sanctioned competitors' products after the game:

Kitna routinely wears a cap with a cross to interviews during the week, underscoring his religious beliefs. He violated a league policy by wearing it for a postgame interview in December.

The league prohibits non-NFL apparel after a game, a way of protecting its sponsorship deals. Kitna thought the rule applied only to products that include a competing company's logo or name.

Would be absolutely silly to make Singletary remove a piece of cross jewelry.

Kurt Warner also routinely wore a cap and shirt with the logo of his organization "Cross Eyed" for news conferences and other TV appearances with no issues.
