damageinc Posted October 22, 2010 Share Posted October 22, 2010 (edited) TV stations Fox 17 and WSMV-TV 4 in Nashville both report that Kenny Britt was involved in a fight at a club early Friday morning. Two men starting fighting at the Nashville Club Karma, and Britt reportedly joined in to help one of the men once the fight went to the ground. Neither party pressed charges, so Britt will escape without arrest. Considering his rocky history on and off the field this year, the Titans won't look kindly on the incident. It's not known yet if the scuffle will affect Britt's status for Sunday's game. delusions of grandeur Posted October 22, 2010 Share Posted October 22, 2010 Since no charges were filed, this may be a non-issue, but I am feeling a little better about jumping ship on Britt after week 1. Seriously, will this kid ever keep his head screwed on tight enough to hold it down as the #1 there? He definitely has the talent, but always seems to be back in the doghouse for something. damageinc Posted October 22, 2010 Share Posted October 22, 2010 (edited) Kenny Britt - WR - Titans Titans coach Jeff Fisher clarified Friday that Kenny Britt's absence from practice was "excused." Britt is apparently denying that he hit anyone in Friday morning's bar brawl, as Fisher said he's giving his best receiver "the benefit of the doubt." Still, Britt's snaps were already threatening to be reduced with Justin Gage back healthy, and Fisher could still deactivate him if the Titans find more evidence of Britt's involvement in the incident. With Kerry Collins at quarterback, this is looking like a fantasy situation to avoid. Oct. 22 - 2:29 p.m. ET EDIT: Radio said charges against Britt couild be forthcoming. The incident occurred at 1:45 a.m. at Club Karma off Lower Broad, according to police. Witnesses identified Britt as being involved in the fight and striking another man. Britt, 22, has not been arrested or charged in what Metro Police spokesman Don Aaron called an “open misdemeanor assault investigation.’’ Police said a fight between Harold Pointer, 26, and Bradford Miser, 29, broke out in the bar area. Witnesses said Miser punched Pointer, and the two men fell to the ground. Britt allegedly joined in and hit Pointer. “According to witnesses, Britt began striking Pointer,’’ Aaron said. “Security at the club as well as a witness then pulled Britt and Miser off of Pointer.’’ Contacted by The Tennessean on Friday, Pointer said he had to go to the emergency room to get four stitches above his left eye. Asked if he planned to press charges, Pointer said there's a "good chance" and “I am looking for a lawyer to pursue it.’’ Pointer said Britt and Miser were involved in another fight with another group of people. Pointer said he wasn’t involved in that fight, but Britt and Miser thought he was. “Kenny came in and pointed right in my face and I pushed his hand out of my face,” Pointer said. “Then 20 minutes later I was standing at the bar and guy came in from out of the crowd and sucker-punched me, and that is when Kenny came in and jumped on top of me, too. “Kenny sent the other guy over to hit me, and once he hit me Kenny came over. Someone told me he was hitting me with bottles, I don’t know because I was defending myself. But I know Kenny was hitting me upside my head.’’ Miser told police he struck Pointer because he had been elbowed in the throat. Pointer said club security “put everybody in handcuffs” and took them to a downstairs room then they let Britt go. Britt was not present when police officers arrived and has not been interviewed by police. “He was in the fight,” Pointer said. “I can almost understand if he had a problem to send someone else over to do it and him act like he had nothing to with it. But he was full-fledged in a fight. Sounds like a Braylon Edwards thing, enter in the 2nd quarter. The risk for fantasy owners is clear. What if the Eagles have a 9-minute drive in the 2nd quarter, Titans get the ball with 6:00 left in the half, go three-and-out... You know what I mean. I agree that it isn't very smart to be in that situation but Britt has company in that department. Half of the players in the league were probably out in a public place at the same time. CJ doesn't have a history that I remember. All those guys who have shown they are mature enough to be out deserve to be there. I'm talking about the ones who don't. "Without all the information this close to the ballgame I'm going to go ahead and allow Kenny to play," coach Jeff Fisher said of Britt, who took part in the team's walkthrough Saturday after being excused from Friday's practice. "I'll continue to gather information, and if I feel like disciplinary action needs to be taken, I'll do it next week." Analysis: With Britt, who has scored touchdowns in his past four games, not starting, either Damian Williams or Justin Gage (hamstring permitting) will likely get the initial nod opposite Nate Washington Sunday. It sounds like Britt owners will get something out of the wideout this weekend, but since Fisher didn't specify how much the Britt's workload will be impacted, a degree of risk has been added to the equation here.
