Second Half Sleepers

It's that time of year, people: when winning teams want that little edge to carry home a trophy, while struggling teams are looking for a waiver wire miracle to save their seasons. In this thread I propose to list those under-the-radar players you think might have an outside chance of jumping in and contributing. This might be a breakout player, or it might be a player who quietly moves from third string or the practice squad into a more prominent role.

A couple that come to mind:

1. Tavaris Jackson (QB MIN): He is not Brett Favre, but then again:P he is no Brett Favre. Should the ankle be a record-ender, Tavaris gets a chance to shine, and might be worth a WW pickup as a backup QB.

2. Steve Johnson (WR BUF): True, he's probably not going to pile up 158 yards and a score each week, but he has scored in four straight weeks, and it looks like Fitpatrick actually has the Bills moving the ball. Could be a decent WR2 or flex.

3. James Jones (GB WR): With Finely out and Driver hobbled, Rodgers has to throw to someone, and even though Jones earned some doghouse time with fumbles and blown routes, he has some value going forward.

i like jones in the second half. if i have a spot and he is available i will pick him up and stash him for a week or 2.

and i expect favre to try to play and get knocked out but never thought about tavaris. that could be interesting.he played well in 08.

Steve Johnson hasn't been sleeping for awhile now ... I have been starting him on 2 of my teams.

(smacks head)

OK. Who else would you recommend as a potential WW pickup? BTW, Johnson is only owned in 14.5 percent of ESPN leagues as of this moment, which is why I suggested him.

There are three QB's that come to mind: Fitzpatrick, Kitna, and Stafford. Any one of them could fill in during the rest of the season and help a fantasy team down the stretch.

Anthony Armstrong is now starting in WAS ... could be worth a pickup.

Also, Dexter McCluster seems to be getting a few more looks ... and has been pretty explosive with them. Could see a continued uptick in touches (but, probably not more than 10 or so a game). Probably best in leagues where you start 4-5 WRs / week and/or in "best ball" leagues.

+1 owned in 14 % or not he aint sleeping there mike

After following this guy the last few weeks and watching him play last week against the Ravens, I'm convinced he's gonna have a strong and consistent second half. Potentially huge.

I think Moeaki has drifted back into sleeper status. I love him going forward.

If you have the luxury of holding onto a guy that's gone to sleep, that's a nice direction. I had to choose this week between dropping Moeaki or Tamme (who I picked up last week), and I feel like I have to give Tamme a shot, considering Moeaki has been inconsistent at best.

Totally Agree with the people that mentioned Blount and Anthony Armstrong.

Guys that might have potential down the stretch Blair White, Mario Manningham, Danny Woodhead, Steve Breaston and Deon Butler

The TE position has been rocked this year Owen Daniels is now heathly and would be a great pick up. Maybe not this week going against IND who are ranked #1 against TE but after he could prove to be a top TE.

Another guy that could be big at the end of NOV would be Vincent Jackson not really a sleeper he's a big name that was drop in a lot of leagues but he's still playing for a contract next year so I imagine he will show up.
