Pierre Thomas: Dump or Hold

74 members have voted

  1. 1. Simple poll: hold Pierre Thomas and hope he is healthy for the playoffs, or dump Pierre Thomas for whatever waiver wire slag you can grab?

    • Dump Pierre - he will have little FF value for the rest of the year.
      29
    • Hold Pierre - he will be back by Week 12 to reward his owners with FF playoff joy.
      28
    • Stalk Pierre and harass him for farking up my FF season.
      10
    • Hug Pierre, for he is a lonely human right about now.
      10
    • Puddy

Just looking for a collective thumbs up, thumbs down, or thumbs sideways on Pierre Thomas. Vote and decide Pierre's FF fate.

Only 6 votes so far? Gotta be more opinions - you need at least 12 people, for example, to send a bloodthirsty convict to the electric chair, right? Surely Pierre deserves at least the equivalent of a jury trial.

With my vote, it's split evenly - 9 to dump him, 9 to hold him. If you were looking for a consensus, you're probably not going to get one. I'd say just dropping him isn't a great option. You might find someone sitting at 6-2 or better that is willing to stash him and you can get a little something in return (Fred Jackson, Ronnie Brown maybe.. .better than nothing).

Yeah, I am 5-3 right now and it just annoys me to keep him on the roster of my team in my big-money league. Yet his upside is too high to simply cut him the way I would, say, a Clinton Portis: no one as yet has stepped up in the Saints backfield in his absence, and IF Thomas gets healthy he could return and put up high RB2 or low RB1 numbers.

Hem...haw...hem...haw.

Then there is the idea of dropping him on a dice roll over a handcuff for another top team's RB: this is the assumption that, say, an ADP or Arian Foster goes down, and all of a sudden you have Toby Gearhart or Derrick Ward looking like fantasy gold (well, at least like tarnished fantasy silver). This is a high-risk, high-reward play: if the stud goes down, you look like a genius, and if the stud stays healthy, you have a ho-hum RB3 you could pinch your nose and plug in after a bad run of injuries.

It all depends on who is available & I doubt there is anybody there with enough upside. If you drop him now somebody will scoop him up immediately and stash him for a possible playoff run.

This is my exact thought and worry. I've held on this long why not wait a little longer. What's the worst that can happen he's a bust sheesh he already is. I gave it one last shot this week as a possible trade option. I get BJG I give up Pierre, DeAngelo and TE Owen Daniels which I thought was more then reasonable. He was intrigue but ultimately he declined. I'll hold out and laugh if he blows up in the play offs if not i've already weather the worst of the storm.

Pray tell, how could the poll be better designed? Should I have included such options as "Smack him, for Pierre is being a whiny wimp" or "Beseech the Lord, for Pierre needs divine assistance"?

Polls around here have "Puddy" as a choice, usually meaning "none of the above".
