Kyle Orton

I saw he was banged up after London. My question to my huddle brethren is, does Orton continue to have fantasy relevance for the rest of the year? Are there any reasons to think his value will drop or his arm will fall off?

Help from Denver homers is also wanted too!!!

Reason being, I am packaging a trade to get Brandon Lloyd but also includes Matt Schaub, my backup QB. If Orton continues to get me 18-25 points a week, the rest of my roster should be able to handle the rest, Foster/Turner/Nicks/TenD

Thanks guys.

I'm surprised he's not out with an injury already. He has taken a serious beating so far this year, and to his credit he stands in the pocket until the last second if necessary to deliver the football, which means he takes a lot more punishment than his 4th worst 21 sacks (spg) would indicate.

The O-line is in complete disarray and there were plans to make changes during the bye week, meaning there's even more upheaval going on. The run game has no NFL credibility, and that isn't going to change. Teams are starting to load up in coverage and are pinning their ears back on the rush since they don't have to worry about the running game. Orton's performance has dropped off the past 3 games - the SF game not withstanding - and Orton is starting to hurry his throws and put the ball in worse spots. Orton's completion percentage has dropped in the last 3 games to 52.4% from 66.2% previously, and he's thrown picks in the past 2 games.

DEN is still going to be forced to throw the ball a ton, but Orton looks like he is starting to struggle. There's also the increased chance for injury as he will continue to take a pounding. You also have to worry about Tebow getting some time if DEN can't find a way to win a couple of games as the season wears on - and we've seen that they are one of the worst teams in the league right now.

Personally, I'd be selling high on Orton right now. If you feel like taking a risk and want to hold on with him, I'd make damned sure that I'd have a solid QB2 on my roster.

I must agree here. When Denver becomes statistically eliminated from the playoffs, expect to see a change of pace and an incorporation of Tebow into the offense allot more if not totally. Remember, Orton only signed a 1 year extension and if the season is lost, might as well get your star QB integrated.

I'd be inclined to agree if they are out of it but look...Orton is top 5 in a few categories and top 10 in others. If he gets injured sure I'd see him being replaced but until then I don't see that happening. In addition McDaniels winning pct. is not good and he needs to win. Orton gives him the best chance at winning. They need a QB who can pass [running game sucks]. TT is not that guy right now. IF you want to run the option sure throw him in there but realistically unless McDaniels is smoking something you ride Orton.
