Managers who refuse to trade?

How often do people in your leagues trade?

I'm only in one league... it's a 10 man league, everyone pays $20, so nothing super serious, but we are playing for money. About half of my league straight up REFUSES to consider trades. There's 3 or 4 people with teams that are going nowhere, with holes all over.

I have Phillip Rivers and Kyle Orton. I've been trying to trade Orton for weeks. Meanwhile, these guys are starting QBs like Kitna, Garrard, Freeman, etc (basically anyone they can scrape off the free agent list).

I even send out ridiculous offers where I'm overpaying for a player and get refused. Example: One guy has Matt Schaub, LeSean McCoy, Rashard Mendenhall, and Cedric Benson, but his WRs are pretty lousy.

My offer? Orton and Mike Wallace for Cedric Benson. REJECTED. I mean, maybe I'm way off base, but I think I'm way overpaying AND helping his team out quite a bit. PS: It's a PPR league.

So, is it common for people to not want to trade? Or am I right for thinking these people are insane/not fun to play with? Because it's really boring to me that no one even attempts to trade.

Sounds like my entire league. Anything close to an even trade they will not do, they have to have the heavy advantage so I just gave up all hope.

I think the money plays a big part in it too, people are overly conservative to roll the dice if a nice cash prize is involved.

I didn't think it would be that bad but what you say about being majorly in their favor is true. I've leant one thing from all this that the Waiver Wire is your best friend and trades great with you. I think you also get the opposite in that people will offer you the dumbiest trades. I had someone offer me Miles Austin for Michael Turner as soon as Romo went down. Another guy before Clark was injured offer me Lance Moore after his big week 3 outting. Of course had I known what was going to happen to Clark, that trade would have helped me more then hurt me, had I known.

People get disintrested, dissappointed, or need to feel ultimately safe that they got the best of you. I've offered thirty plus trades and made only one this year and that was in week two. I didn't think it would be as hard as it's been. The value of players constantly changes for example Bowe before his big week was being shopped around for nobody's the next week the guy wants the moon for him. I offered someone Pierre Thomas, DeAngelo Williams and Owen Daniels (before he was scratched) last week for BJGE and I was declinded.

I sent out two more offers this week trying to get another solid RB for (hopefully) a playoff run. (This is a .5 PPR league with a W/R flex)

I offered Andre Johnson, Mike Wallace, and Marcedes Lewis for Frank Gore and I sent the same offer to a different owner for Darren McFadden. I'm all but certain both will be rejected.

Here's my team now:

QB: Phillip Rivers/Kyle Orton

RB: Michael Turner/LaGarrette Blount/DeAngelo Williams/Pierre Thomas

WR: Andre/Calvin/Steve Johnson, Randy/Santana Moss, Mike Wallace

TE: Jacob Tamme/Marcedes Lewis

K: Rob Bironas

DEF: Tennessee

I'm sitting at 4-5 and I'm in 5th place right now. I got off to a terrible start thanks to the team I drafted. I do have two friends in the league that love to trade so I've been able to get by trading with them. I've also had some awesome waiver pickups (Peyton Hillis, LaGarrette Blount, Jacob Tamme, and Marcedes Lewis) so I've been able to win the last two after starting 2-5.

Anyway, my strategy has always been to completely forego depth around week 10 in order to have the best possible starting lineup the rest of the way. I've got way too many WRs and could really go for a superstar RB. I know I'm over paying, but I would still LOVE for either of those trades to go down. I know it won't though :/

I offered a guy P. Hillis & S. Smith - NYG (before he got hurt) or H. Ward for H. Nicks. He declined my offer. His other WRs are R. White, P. Harvin, D. Bowe, & B. Edwards. His RBs are R. Rice, D. Williams, J. Stewart, W. McGahee, & K. Moreno. I thought it was a pretty fair trade. He said that Nicks was too valuable to trade.

The biggest problem in my league is one that's been mentioned already: owners wanting to think they got the best end of the trade by a longshot. Case in point, I'm working two different owners in my money league to strengthen my RB's. One owner has McCoy and will give him to me for Matt Ryan (this guy had Romo but now goes with Flacco & Sanchez). The other owner has Bradshaw but is hurting at QB with Brady & Palmer/Cassel as their starters. I offered Orton & Ray Rice for Palmer & Bradshaw and the offer was countered. The counter offer was Orton & AP for Palmer & Bradshaw. How that even seemed fair to the other owner is beyond me.

I have Vick who another manager wanted bad (schaub/mcnabb). I wanted White and proposed Vick/Jennings. He refused and asked for Vick/Jennings/Hilis. A little too rich for my blood.

Then there's others who never respond to any trade requests at all even though it would make total sense. Manager has Nicks, Megatron, AJ and no RB (Ivory, Jones, Jackson). I offer any of my RB's (MJD, Hilis, Mcfadden) for any of his WR's. It's very frustrating waiting.

I have been looking for a trade for about 3 weeks now in my 16 man league. Just take a look at my sig, my team is barely getting by at 4-5 with all the injuries I have experienced at WR and RB and I can't get a nibble from other owners. I have been extremely thin at WR for weeks and it doesn't help that my best receiver, Steve Smith NYG, is out for at least two weeks now. I have a good selection of running backs that I grabbed from the waiver wire mostly (Grant and Bush owner), so I tried to make an offer for Colston earlier this week to the guy who had him. I gave him his option of Torain, Blount or R Bush along with option of Royal or Breaston for Colston straight-up, and he wasn't interested. Now, I log on today and he trades Colston for Brandon Jackson straight up. The funny thing is that he has Moreno as his best running back and he is his only starter for this week. Brandon Jackson obviously can't be used this week with the bye.

I also had a trade worked out with another manager a week ago which had me sending Blount and Royal for Mike Williams (TB) and Ryan Mathews. He texted me by cell phone and said he was okay with the deal and that he would pitch it out on our league for me to accept. Needless to say, a couple of days went by and it wasn't up yet, so I offered it to him myself. Then, he waits until the last possible minute to reject it on Saturday right before noon and says "I don't think this will work" and leaves me in the dust as the deadline closed for trades to go through before gametime (We need 24 hours to have deals go through as we use a voting system). Had I known he would of taken back his word, I could of been pursuing other trades that week.

Someone in my league offered me Heath Miller for Marcedes Lewis and said "If you want to trade, you should take what's offered to you and stop whining!"

._.

I think I need a new league... and new friends.

Just play the game can't make anyone do what they don't want to.... stop whining about someone not wanting your players for theirs and just win with what ya got!!!

Yeah I hear ya, I've actually received possibly the worst offer I ever got in my career of fantasy football from a guy who was trying to get Frank Gore off me Sunday. He offered me BenJarvus Green-Ellis, Jeremy Shockey (who left last week with an injury) and Mike Wallace for Frank Gore, Vernon Davis and Steve Smith (NYG). I was actually offended that he offered me that trade. I wouldn't take that trade if I was high and drunk at the same time. However, I feel that the worst is when you have an owner push the same guy on you in multiple trade offers that you have no interest in acquiring. That guy who made the offer for Gore keeps packaging BGE in deals without any receiver options which I need, and he doesn't seem to understand that I don't want BGE, even when I specifically tell him that I have 0% interest in him. Then when I counter with a decent offer with sending Gore in a package deal with TO, he is completely against any offer and everything is off the table. I've also been offered Vincent Jackson and Michael Jenkins for Gore straight up by the same guy... I really can't believe people this year. Trades never use to be this ridiculous.

Would love to win with the players I got, but when you lose Ryan Grant, Reggie Bush, Kenny Britt, Steve Smith (NYG) for an extended period of time in a 16 man league, suddenly you need to make a move with what you "got left". We don't all get the luxury of having waiver wire gems like Collie, Hillis, and even B Jackson available to begin the season (they were all drafted in our league). Imagine my response when you go to make a waiver claim for Brandon Jackson once Grant is on IR after the 1st week and he is already on a team that drafted him, lol! Then what do you do? Put Ricky Williams in from the bench and hope for the best each week? Luckily, I found some deeper gems in the running back position, but unfortunately I wasn't that lucky with WR.

With experienced players, it becomes an ego thing IMO.

Unless you are getting Rivers and Roddy for Joel Dreeson, most are not gonna pull the trigger. I haven't been able to pull a trade in any league for years.

This is the one time where a tie is a good thing. Both teams need to be helped, but most GMs are not gonna help another team while helping his own.
