rai
I don't usually have a problem with Bilicheck such as when he ran the score up against the Titans last year. But last night. After Ward catches the pass and what could be an illegal helmet to helmet hit. He had a marginal 5 yard catch, but not even for a first down it was going to be 3rd and 2 (instead of 3rd and 7 after the challange). I don't believe you challange the catch in that situation not a big difference either way for the outcome of the game. If you are a decent human, you let the man have his minor catch. Ward had a 180 game catch streak going. But he didn't get the chance to come back in the game likley because of an injury (from what could be a cheap shot) and then on top of that take away his minor catch for an un-important gain is sad IMO. detlef
Straight up. I have never made it any question that I think BB is the freaking devil. However, complaining about this is lame. Dude, it wasn't a freaking catch. That's why they have challenges. And you hear about it all the time, every time a team has 3rd and short and commits a false start, how much difference it is going from 3rd and 2 and 3rd and 7. How many plays are removed from the book at that point. How many less things the D needs to worry about. And besides, how the hell does he know that Ward was going to be out for the game? Bronco Billy
Straight up. I have never made it any question that I think BB is the freaking devil. And right after I give you a compliment in another thread, no less... I just want to make sure I have this complaint correct: Hines Ward gets thrown a pass across the middle on a 1st quarter play that the refs rule complete. Belicheck challenges it and wins the challenge because Ward did not catch the pass. Coincidently, Ward is hurt on the play when he runs his head into a tackler's lower face mask/upper chest - clearly not helmet-to-helmet as defined by the NFL(see attached link) and sustains a concusion as a result. But because of all of this, Belicheck has no class because Ward got hurt on the play and couldn't keep his 180 game streak going? link to video - Ward play starts at 2:53 mark

Grits and Shins
You've got to be kidding me. Because Ward was hurt on the play Belicheck is supposed to ignore the fact that it wasn't a catch. Yeah right.

If anything, you could make the argument that Belichick's decision to challenge that play was questionable if only because it would be a shame to run out of challenges and not get to use one on a much more impactful play. But to say it was classless?

No, I have a version of turrets where I just lob random insults at Bronco Billy regardless of whether it even makes sense. It's a heavy cross to bear but I'm seeing someone about it. Balzac
I know people hate Beli and the Pats but this is just pathetic. I'd be more offended by Brady needlessly spiking the ball in the fans' faces after his TD . . .

Every coach in the league will try and give his team better odds to win a certain play if at all possible. What a lame thread.
Furd
Yeah, Belicheck really blindsided Ward on that one.
osu1322
Belicheck's job is to manage a football team to help them win. If giving his team a 3rd and 7 rather than a 3rd and 2 cause his guy in the booth told him it wasn't a catch. It would be like Farve Breaking his leg in 5 places and them letting him take 1 snap to keep his streak going..... it would just tarnish his record

Or like Favre lieing down at Strahan's feet...
