The Next Generation
PHILADELPHIA (AP) -The Philadelphia Eagles are going even greener. The team plans to add wind turbines, solar panels and a co-generation plant at Lincoln Financial Field over the next year. Team officials say the combination of energy sources will make the stadium self-sufficient and even allow the Eagles to sell some of its power back to the electric grid. Eagles owner Jeffrey Lurie called the plan a "vital step towards energy independence." Under the plan, 80 spiral-shaped wind turbines will be mounted on the stadium's roof and 2,500 solar panels attached to the stadium's facade. The co-generation plant would be powered by biodiesel and natural gas. The project is expected to be finished by September. http://www.philadelphiaeagles.com/news/Sto...3&spadaro=1 Interesting... I think the energy company is footing the bill. You know, for the exposure and all. If other teams/stadiums follow suit...windfall! ajfalcone
Because by the time they recoup their initial investment in savings, you'll have another stadium or 2 built. they are offering same deal to homeowners to be able to sell energy back to the grid. Thats all fine and dandy but the fail to tell you the money made is taxable income as well. All I ask is just throw us a bone to do something for once. historymike
Thought for a moment this was some kind of Ahman Green thread, and that I time-warped back to 2004 or so.
