They said Williams will start with Portis the backup.

Coach Mike Shanahan did say that Clinton Portis (groin) will play against the Titans, probably in a limited backup role behind Keiland Williams. Torain hasn't been a noticeable upgrade from Williams dating back to the preseason, so he's no lock to retain the starting job once he gets healthy. (Assuming he does at all.) His fantasy value is bordering on non-existent.

If Williams keeps the job he "could" be that one player who can win a champinship for you. Happens all the time ( rememeber Samkon gado etc) . He has a terriffic playoff schedule. the Tampa Bay Buccaneers (31st), Cowboys (23rd) and Jaguars (21st).

We know its RatFace BUT once he finds a back after flopping he sticks with him ( Portis..anderson etc)

Was thinking that but if he doesnt by the end of today it will be all Williams this weekend with portis in a backup role.

But theres these kind of reports and you think Ratface !!!

Keiland Williams - RB - Redskins

The Washington Post suggests that Keiland Williams is no lock to be the Redskins' featured tailback in Week 11.

Writes the Post's Rick Maese, "If (Clinton) Portis handles the bulk of the workload Sunday, Williams could return to his role as the team's third-down back." We do tentatively expect Williams to handle most of the carries and catches for Washington, but it's another reminder that Mike Shanahan backfields are far from reliable sources of fantasy value. A tough matchup with Tennessee makes the situation that much sketchier.

It seems unlikely Portis will have a major role considering how limited he has been in practice. I could see him being involved on some 3rd downs but probably only if Williams struggles in pass protection. I'm starting Williams as a flex this weekend and feel pretty good about it.

As for Torain, I am holding onto him since the state of the WAS backfield is ever fluctuating. Also, FWIW, if I didn't need to depend on any of these RBs, I wouldn't. Sometimes you have little choice.

Let the head games begin

Rotoworld:

ESPN's Adam Schefter is reporting that Keiland Williams will not draw the start in Week 11.

That distinction will go to Clinton Portis. Knowing Mike Shanahan, the only guarantee is that Portis will get the first carry of the game; everything else is a crapshoot. Williams came into Sunday as our 27th ranked running back for Week 11, but the news that Portis is seemingly healthy enough to be the team's starter makes Williams even less of an attractive play.

Why do I continue to have any RBs on a Shanahan coached team.

Not surprising...I said earlier in this thread that williams is nothing more than a 3rd-down RB, and when given the opportunity to be the primary, ball-control RB last week, he failed miserably (see Washington's 4 straight 3-and-outs to start the game last week when they tried to run the ball).

When the game turned into a pass-heavy mode for the Skins, Williams played very well. But he is not a primary ball carrier. Portis or Torain have that role if either is healthy.

Not sure why this would shock anyone?
