Fantasy or Reality

Just curious, as there is a discussion going in another thread:

Suppose your homer team is playing, and it is up to your fantasy stud to run out the clock or score a meaningful TD to seal the game.

Are you rooting for your homer team to stop him and win, or for your fantasy stud to win your fantasy game for you?

i try not to start my fantasy players when they're going against my team.

don't want that conflict during the game and i don't want to ever root against my team.

just starting a guy vs. the Chargers would be like rooting against them.

Always start your player v your home team!!! Its the emotional hedge, if your fantasy players end up sucking ass, well at least your team did well and if your team gets blown out, hopefully that translated into a decent week for your ffl guys...

I always root for my home team, I don't see how any fan could root for a fantasy team over their home squad.

I think if your fantasy players do well against your home team, it just makes for a good consolation prize.

What's the prize when your homer team wins? You get to talk about how good they are??

I really just don't get this 'homer' mentality, it's really kind of juvenile. I know I'm in the minority here but it makes way more sense to root for the team you directly assembled and can profit from their success. If your homer team wins the SB you get rewarded with pricier tickets.

For me, it's not even close nor will it ever be. I ALWAYS root for the Steelers first and my fantasy team 2nd.

I'd rather brag my home team won before bragging about my fantasy team.

And I can't even begin to imagine where winning a pittance of cash would buy my loyalty to the Birds.

 I just thought it was an interesting topic, since we were so opposite our views.

Didn't mean to strike a nerve with you, but I am glad you liked the thread....be interesting how others would view you rooting for Bradshaw to perform better enough to post a thread when "your" Eagles are playing in the 4th quarter of a 1-point game against the Giants.

and  to anyone bragging about their FF outside of FF. I downplay it when my wife brings it up to non-FF people.

This is like Dungeons & Dragons for adults

Yup

I'm in a weird position. As a Buffalo Bills fan, I can't expect much out of my boys.... so why wouldn't I root for my fantasy team first?! Ultimately, however, I would rather see the Bills win then pull out a fantasy football win. However, I would not go out of my way to sit one of my stars because he was playing Buffalo.

In fact, funny story.... This season I have Megatron on my team. During the Det / Buf game I didn't care if he got squat... Buffalo needed their first victory. I didn't bench Johnson, but I didn't root for him. It turned out that he caught a last minute TD, but Detroit missed the 2 pt to tie... so I got my cake and ate it too... yummy.

Eagles

>

My local league/commish

>

32 Homarrrrs

and that's it....2 league's....I stopped wasting money in joining leagues that I won't even pay attention to....and there's no way I favor my fantasy team over my home team - the only thing I might say is that if the other team is gonna score, then it better be a guy I have on my team (Manningham) ....

Pretty much how I feel 100%

which is why I thought it odd that a 100% Eagles fan was bitching that Bradshaw was fumbling...in reference to the overturned fumble mid-4th quarter when the Eagles were trailing by 1 point and desperately needed the ball back.

I truly didn't realize some people valued their fantasy success more than their home team's success.

I have a baseball story. I'm an Angels fan, and a couple of years ago when Travis Haffner was still a stud, I benched him for the series they played against the Angels. Take that, Haf!

Oh yeah, he set like a franchise record with something like 5 HRs and 15 RBIs in the series, couple of grand slams, and the Angels lost all 3 games. From then on, I start anybody against the Angels, hope the Halos win, and hope my players eke out a few meaningful stats.

I get very conflicted when I have players going against my team. I play my matchups the way they should be played and I would never bench a guy against my team if its my best option. I root for my team but it stings a heck of alot less if its one of my players ends up doing well against them. Its like Yes! and then a delayed reaction of Nooooo! haha

For the love of all thats Holy, let it go. What you agree with is EXACTLY what my post is about. The above post, 5 posts up whoever you quoted, is the point of my disgust. I want the Eagles to win, but if a player I have on my FF team is on the Giants, Bradshaw in this case, is gonna score I want him too.

You are being a hypocrite bro. you just agreed to a statement that debunks what you state the next line down?????

Screw fantasy or the money its all about the Steelers!!!

I have no problem starting players who play against them. I just do not care about about how they perform......for the most part

I'll put it this way: I'm more upset when my fantasy team loses than when the Cowboys lose. Although I'm been a Dallas fan for 30-some years, I've been heavily involved in fantasy football only about the past dozen years or so, a time in which the Cowboys haven't done much. I'm very competitive, and fantasy football feeds that more than the Cowboys do.
