AtomicCEO
Dear DMD, I've frequented this site for over 10 years... I've read countless articles... heck I even read your book. So as I finish up another season of sadness, I need you to help me understand... Why am I so terrible at fantasy football? It can't be me, right? I'm clearly awesome. Everyone says so. Thanks, Defeated in Denver
Grits and Shins
I think you nailed it ... it is the Huddle's fault, it is DMD's fault and it is WW's fault. It certainly can't be our fault, that is a given.

DMD
Dear Awesome, Virginia AtomicCEO, your little friends are wrong. They have been affected by the scepticism of a sceptical age. They do not believe except they see. They think that nothing can be which is not comprehensible by their little minds. All minds, Virginia AtomicCEO, whether they be men's or children's are little. In this great universe of ours man is a mere insect, an ant, in his intellect, as compared with the boundless world about him, as measured by the intelligence capable of grasping the whole of truth and knowledge. Yes, Virginia AtomicCEO, there is a Fantasy Championship waiting for you. It exists as certainly as love and generosity and devotion exist, and you know that they abound and give to your life its highest beauty and joy. Alas! how dreary would be the world if there were no Fantasy Championships! It would be as dreary as if there were no AtomicCEOs. There would be no child-like faith then, no poetry, no romance to make tolerable this existence. We should have no enjoyment, except in sense and sight. The eternal light with which childhood fills the world would be extinguished. Not believe in your chance for a Fantasy Championship! You might as well not believe in fairies! Nobody sees Fantasy Championships, but that is no sign that there are no Fantasy Championships for you. The most real things in the world are those that neither children nor men can see. Did you ever see fairies dancing on the lawn? Of course not, but that's no proof that they are not there. Nobody can conceive or imagine all the wonders there are unseen and unseeable in the world. No Fantasy Championships! Thank God! they live, and the live forever. A thousand years from now, Virginia AtomicCEO, nay, ten times ten thousand years from now, Fantasy Championships will continue to make glad the heart of you. Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year! Thanks, Defeated in Denver We must continue to pad your ego to ensure you submit your 2011 entry fees so us real champions can spend our valuable time researching our uber team rather than find another pigeon to fill your divisional spot. Your dollars are very appreciated at the end of the year as we bask in our victorious glory. Oh, did I mention "YOU ROCK"?

Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year! +1 for the chuckle and the reminder that even crappy FF teams sometimes win championships. In 2005 my team led wire-to-wire, going 11-2-1, stomping the first two playoff teams, only to lose to a 6-8 team that just squeaked into the playoffs. His Kerry Collins and Larry Johnson went otherworldly on me, and all I could do was sob, as my starting QB (Matt Hasselbeck) suddenly got benched for Trent Dilfer at about 4:12 pm, and I lost by a handful of points. Why is it we always remember the "bad beats" when we're on the wrong end of them. 4:12pm? LOL. Been there, brother. Effin Jonathon Stewart 2 years ago on the LAST Monday night game, I'd have 3 division titles in a row. Take heart Atomic - my first two years on the Huddle and I'm 2 for 2 in winning my division. Now if I can just get past that dagnasted playoff choke I get every year... Last year, I got so distracted by the Huddle's playoff pool that I didn't pay enough attention to my league. Hmmmm.... so it is the Huddle's fault! Best part is, based on following some of the advise from here, and seeming almost prophetic on a few occasions, I have been accused having Mort on speed dial. TimC
Defeated in Denver I wonder if you can call Terrell Davis up and help with that. Of course, you get to take all the credit, Mr. Elway.
historymike
Now if I can just get past that dagnasted playoff choke I get every year... Tell me about it: in my big money league, a league I have been in for 16 years (with a two-year hiatus) I have been to the Super Bowl four times and never won the big dance. Out of those 14 FF years I have probably made the playoffs 12 times. This is Bills-esque futility. Thankfully I have won a few titles in other leagues to reassure myself that I am not eternally cursed at FF, sending me to stick my head in the gas oven, but my record of playoff failure in this one league is just short of amazing: it seems almost statistically impossible that I could lose so many playoff games, especially with so many strong teams. This year's injury-plagued squad (see the sig line) has managed to stay competitive, but I will need a ton of luck to knock off the first place 11-1 squad, which is led by Rivers and Foster, but hey: maybe this is my year for a so-so squad to get hot at playoff time. My principal strategy this year is to go into the playoffs with as few injuries as possible (I dumped Nicks, PT, and a few other hospice patients over the past few weeks) in favor of depth. Of course, this just means more options for me to over-manage at lineup time...

SLAYER
I think we need to get 12 huddlers who have never won a championship or just won one over the last 5 yrs and see who can finally win one.

AtomicCEO
Trying joining a league with me in it. Your chances for a championship increase dramatically. I believe that there is some truth to this. Every year I draft a great team that loses. I'm starting to think it's the players fault. "No, jerks... you WERE good... you CAN be good! Stop sucking!" And my triumvirate of suck this year are Mo (J-D), Larry (Fitz), and Curly (If you call Chris Johnson curly, and I do). Preseason, who would have predicted that squad to go 5-7 with no injuries?
