Any Seattle homers (it's ok, don't be embarrassed) have any info on how BMW looked at practice today? I'm considering starting him over James Jones with the news that he's actually expected to play now. Given SEA's complete inability to run against anyone, I expect Hass to put up some good numbers by throwing to somebody - and when that somebody has been BMW in the past, he's been solid (albeit on my bench). Just a little wary of him tweaking the foot, I guess.

Williams (foot) did not practice Thursday, the team's official site reports.

 

Williams (foot) is listed as questionable for Sunday's game against Carolina, the Seattle Times reports.

 

Spin: Even if Williams manages to play this week, he'll still probably be limited by the foot injury. Plus, the Seahawks play in the second wave of kickoffs, so if he is a late scratch, you won't have as many replacement options. There are a lot of red flags here.

I'm actually rolling with Obomanu for a couple reasons.

 

1 - If Williams does play, he will likely draw Chris Gamble, and that is not a favorable matchup. If you look at Williams' history, he puts up big numbers when the competition isn't that strong (two of his four "monster" games were against Arizona), but he virtually disappears against better coverage corners / schemes (combined 3 for 52 in games vs. the Raiders and Giants). Gamble isn't exactly Revis or Champ, but he's above average at his position (at least in my opinion).

 

2 - Seattle's run game hasn't gotten it going at all this year, and Hasselbeck seems to be playing better as of late, so Seattle will probably move the ball more through the air than on the ground.

 

3 - Obomanu has a mini hot streak going the last three weeks averaging 4.7 catches and over 100 total yards the last three weeks (including 82 yds per game in week 10 and 11 playing opposite Williams).

 

4 - Williams won't be 100%, meaning Obomanu has a decent chance to put up the best numbers of any WR in this game no matter whether Williams plays or not.

 

5 - Carolina on the road across the country... It's a favorable matchup generally for the passing game.

 

My biggest concern here is that Seattle gets out to an early lead via turnovers or special teams. I just hope Carolina keeps it close, but Seattle has this tendency to pull a really, really strong defensive game out of their arse at home on occasion. I just hope this isn't one of those weeks. Ideally, Carolina's run game gets things going and keeps the game close enough that Seattle can't just sit on the ball in the 4th quarter.

 

But my gut tells me that Carolina will play well enough on offense to avoid a Seattle blowout.

I wish I had Seattle D/ST rather then facing them this week. I think it's going to be a blow out. I agree about Williams not playing well vs strong corners it's a part of his game that need to improve that and TD's. Obo should have a good game regardless cause Hasselbeck is going to be throwing it a lot.

Yeah, truth be told Obomanu isn't a great play, but I think he has more upside than my other options (Naanee and Santana Moss). I put a waiver claim in for Earl Bennett this week, and I may just spot start him vs. the Lions instead. Similar upside, similar situation as Obomanu actually.

Was going to play Obomanu over Miles Austin. Changing it back now. Not real familiar with Seattle's depth chart. If Williams plays...does that kill Obomanu?

seems like the only consistency to their depth chart is that BMW is the #1 when healthy.

 

As for Miles, Dez apparently 'mildly' sprained his ankle yesterday, so that bumps miles a little.

 

I would say that Obomanu has probably done enough in the last few weeks to be considered a clear #2 over guys like Golden Tate and Deon Butler. The official depth chart has Obomanu that way. It'll be interesting to see if Williams plays, because Carroll claims they won't play him unless he's 100%. It makes me think he could be a surprise inactive if he doesn't convince Carroll during warmups.

Not saying you're wrong here, but the way I understood it (from what I've read) is that if/when he plays, even at 90%, they will not limit him. So basically, he will be in on all the usual plays even if he is not completely healthy.

that only matters when a team travels from west to east b/c of the time change. going west from Carolina gives them, 3 extra hours of time, so when they think it is 3 it will really be noon and they will be ready and caught up on sleep. Of course, we are still talking about Carolina, so ....

but I don't see blowout early, maybe blowout the last 8 minutes of the 4th.

Didn't see this posted, but Williams apparently left the game with an ankle/foot injury. Questionable return. Don't know if it was the same injury as before.
