Grits and Shins
How is this the same team that went 1-7 under Doughboy and are 1 play from 4-0 under Garrett? I've always said that Doughboy was a horrible HC and was way too soft ... this should be plain to all now. I have also said that I'm not convinced that Garrett is what we need for a HC ... I now admit that I might be wrong on that point. I have liked what I have seen from the Cowboys since Garrett took over - this team is playing with heart now, something doughboy could never get them to do. I'm still not quite convinced on Garrett (so far, so good) but I believe that JJ will be and Garrett will be named the HC. Yep....you have to believe what you see, and this looks like a completely different team with Garrett. Props to him. E.T.A. I loved seeing Sean Lee have a big game. He was awesome at Penn State and came back from a devastating injury. During the year he was out, he was like another coach on the sidelines. Good guy, and I'm glad he is seeing some success in the NFL. Edited December 6, 2010 by Menudo
STL Fan
I can't recall ever seeing a case where it was more apparent that the coach actually was the problem. Usually a coach gets fired and nothing really changes. You have to think that the recent events not only give great credibility to Garrett's ability to take over, but have also dealt a huge blow to what was left of Phillip's value as a HC for another team. How could anyone hire him as anything above coordinator at this point?
whomper
Grits. I agree 100% and feel that I may have jumped the gun on saying Garret wasnt right for the job a while back. Im not anointing him Tom Landry but you cant argue with results. I saw all I needed to see against N.O and what I mean by that is Wades Cowboys down 17-0 in the first Q would have played dead and gotten steam rolled like they did against the Packers. This team clawed back and had the win in their hands until a gut wrenching turn over. I have no problem with JJ giving Garret the reigns for good. The man earned it. Unbelievable
I'm sorry, but I don't buy the Garret hype. No doubt the team is doing better since he took the reins, but what does that tell us about the players? They laid down to run Phillips off and now are playing to their potential because they got what they wanted. Control of the team can't be given to the players. What a mess THAT would be. Garret may actually be deserving of a HC job but how can you tell? He might upset the wrong player and have the whole team lay down again. Everything is upside down in the NFL and the patients are running the asylum.

With Wade there Garrett wasn't in a position to do the things that needed to be done. Wade was soft and his team was soft. Garrett is more rigid and demanding and the team is responding. Under Wade the team was lost and had no one to lead them ... it looks to me like Garrett has stepped up and taken the mantle of leadership that Wade refused to wear. So you are telling me that this prima donna clad cast of elitists is whipped into submission overnight because of Garret? Think again. polksalet
Phillips was scared for his job and Jerry had no confidence in him. Therefore Jerry made the game plan and told Phillips what to do. Garrett is winging it because Jerry wants to see what kind of coach Garrett is. Once Garrett does something Jerry disagrees with he they will have a meeting and Garrett will receive his instructions. Then the boys will be back to suck city and the Steelers fans will have another few years of laughs. Then everyone will turn on Garrett as the problem the same way they turned on Gailey, Owens, Phillips, and all of the other walking excuses for their failure. Until you run those inbreeders out of there you will suck and we will laugh.
CowboysDiehard
Say what you will about Garrett, he has them playing well. I was skeptical at first, but so far so good. At this point, unless they completely collapse, I think it's a safe assumption that the 'interim' tag will be dropped in the off-season. i_am_the_swammi
I must say, I am a little more worried about this coming Sunday than I was 3 weeks ago....they are playing much better in all phases of the game.
dbforbes
I must say, I am a little more worried about this coming Sunday than I was 3 weeks ago....they are playing much better in all phases of the game. And I share your concern. While I was also really worried about Dez Bryant turning into another Britt-type matchup situation, at least the Eagles dodged that bullet! But we all know that both teams are going to bring their A-games!
