Since the GMX forum is password protected here is a cut and paste of the rules:

GMX - The General Manager Xperience

Chapter 1 - Summary

The league will consist of 16 teams, $50 buy in each yr, using MFL. Rosters will be up to 40 NFL players with a Developmental Taxi Squad of up to 13 NFL players to make an maximum 53-man roster.

Number of Franchises: 16

Number of Roster Spots: 40

Number of Weekly Starters: 16

Number of Injured Reserve Spots: Unlimited

Number of Taxi Squad Spots: 15

Head-To-Head Matchups: Yes

Number of Rosters Each Player can be on: 1

Starting Requirements: 7 offensive players, 1 kicker, 8 defensive players (see Weekly Lineups)

Salary Cap: $30000

Contract Year Cap: 100

1.1 The league will consist of 16 franchises.

1.2 The length of the regular season will be 13 weeks.

1.3 Weekly league games will be played head-to-head against opposing franchises.

1.4 The league will be run on My Fantasy League.com.

1.5 The league will consist of two conferences-

1.6 Each team will play each division rival twice, other conference foes once, and 3 inter-conference games. Like the NFL, 2 inter-conference divisions will be pitted against each other

1.7 The league office will consist of 2 Co-Commish

1.8 The league commissioners are responsible for conducting league business, arbitrating league disputes, recording all draft information, compiling the weekly Free Agent pick-up list, and providing weekly reports to franchise owners.

1.9 League off-season votes require 51% to pass.

1.10 In-season votes, though discouraged, require 75% to pass.

1.11 Owners are encouraged to suggest a change to the rules by contacting the commissioner's office.

1.12 Votes will normally be conducted by e-mail or on the messageboard. Non-returned ballots are not factored into the returns. Off-season votes are due within 7 days. In-season votes are due within 48 hours of the time sent.

1.13 There are certain situations where some leniency is needed or a rule does not address an issue specifically. In these situations, the commissioners will have the final say on the rule or rules in question. A rule will then be put into action to address the concerned situation to prevent this from happening again in the future..

1.14 Februaury 1 - March 31 is officially the rule revision period for GMX. From February 1st to the last day of the month any ideas for rule change can be brought up and discussed in the league forums. If any proposals have at least 3 people show interest in the change, an official poll will be put up beginning March 1st, with voting running to the last day of the month. All rules changes will have a 1 yr waiting period before they are implemented. So if in March 2006 a rule is changed, the 2006-2007 season is the grace period season to give everyone a chance to get accumstomed to the rule change, before it goes into effect during the next season 2007-2008. Rule Changes needs 10 votes to overrule a current rule.

Chapter 2 - Franchise Ownership

2.1 The cost to own a franchise and participate in the draft is $50.00 for the 2005 season. 100% of fees (minus cost of MFL.com) will be paid out. See the payment/payout section. Dues must be paid by March 1st. If dues are not paid within 10 days, a new owner will be sought and the doubloon penalty will be lifted and re-instated for the new owner.

2.2 An owner may only own one franchise.

2.3 Owners can name their franchise whatever they choose. However, since we are trying to create a realistic NFL experience the name should start with a geographic location (city, state, or area), followed by the nickname (ex's- Cleveland Dawgs, Ohio Players, Sonomo Valley Grape-Crushers).

2.4 If an owner chooses to leave the league, is not heard from for two consecutive weeks during the season, two weeks during the RFA signing period, or 60 days during the off season a replacement owner will be sought.

2.5 Priority will be given to replacements that current owners know.

2.6 If an 'orphaned team' is in the bottom half of the league or is otherwise uncompetitive due to age, injuries, etc. a surrogate owner may be allowed to play in the league without the franchise fee for 1 year, if a paying replacement can not be sought. Or league will attempt to obtain half franchise fee if commissioners believe this franchise is an up and coming team due to draft picks, strong DTS, or young promising roster. Full payment will be requested on all new owners taking over franchises. This only applies if an owner can not be sought before the beginning of RFA. Time table on RFA will not begin until replacement owner has been found for orphaned franchise/s

2.7 Other than extreme circumstances, such as a medical emergency, no refunds of league fees will be given out. Paying league fees implies a commitment to run the team for the full season.

Chapter 3 - Tanking

3.1 Tanking is a serious threat to the integrity of GMX. Tanking is the act of submitting a weaker lineup in hopes of improving draft position, or by means of neglecting you team so that you are no longer managing your team. Both negatively effect the league. Under these rules you may never submit an injured person listed as “out” the injury report or a player on a bye week. These players are assured to score zero points. If you have someone on your team that could start in their place you must use them instead. Starting lesser quality players over higher quality players is allowed. However if it is believed that the owner is submiting a lineup in order to lose a game they will also recieve the same penalty. Owners have a great deal of freedom to submit lineups they are comfortable with; they can take chances and start players they are comfortable with. This rule is not to make sure that you start your best 16 players but that you keep the league competitive. Owners that break these rules are brought in front of the Commish or a League vote who can enforce a penalty of 1 draft position on the next 1st round pick that they own. If this violation happens more than once in the season the owner will be removed from the league. The Commish will set that teams lineup until a replacement owner is found.

Chapter 4 - The Veteran Draft

4.1 A GMX Veteran Draft consisting of 40 rounds, will be held on ***** to permit owners to fill their rosters with current NFL veterans.

4.2 The draft order for the 2005 Vet Draft will be determined by a random dice roll.

4.3 The Veteran Draft will proceed in a "snake" style format.

4.3 Salaries will be assigned to every player, based on the draft slot at which they are picked, using the veteran draft slot chart.

4.4 Teams should start signing veterans once the veteran draft has concluded.

4.5 Teams will have until the last Friday prior to the first NFL game at 6:00 PM EST to either assign contracts to their players or give the players their release.

Chapter 5 - Rookie Draft

5.1 The annual GMX rookie draft will start approximately May 16th to take advantage of the 5/15 MFL database update. As early as 5/1 if MFL has rookies added at that time, but will be Commish's discression and they will post at least 2 weeks prior to rookie draft to inform league.

5.2 The team with the first pick of the 2005 rookie draft will be the team who had the 16th pick in the first round of the Vet Draft. The 2005 rookie draft will be in a "snake" style format. The salary slots for the 2005 rookies are found in the 2005 Rookie Draft Slot Chart.

5.3 For the 2006 season and beyond, the draft will proceed in reverse order based on the previous season's finish (total points as tie-breaker), with the following two exceptions: the GMX Champion will draft last, (regardless of record) and the GMX runner-up will draft second to last (regardless of record). Starting 2006, the 6 playoff teams will automatically receive the last 6 draft spots. Teams eliminated the same week will be seeded in reverse order of record (total points as the tie-breaker).

5.4 The draft will last 8 rounds, going in numerical order from pick 1 to 128 (2006 and beyond the rookie draft will not snake).

5.5 Only rookies will be eligible to be drafted. As defined by the NFL CBA, a Rookie is defined as a person who has never signed a Player Contract with an NFL Club previous to this year. An undrafted Rookie means a Rookie who was eligible for, but not selected in a College Draft. If a player signs a contract, gets cut before playing any games, then resigns with another team, he is now a free agent and loses his rookie status.

5.6 Trading of draft selections is permitted prior to or during the draft. Teams may trade picks from the current draft and the next immediate future draft only. Once a trade is made between two franchises, both parties must notify the commissioner to validate the trade.

5.7 Following the 2005 rookie draft, owners will be allowed to trade picks from the next 2 yrs drafts, in doing so said owners must do so in accordance with rules 11.12 - 11.15.

5.8 The draft will be conducted on MFL.com.

5.9 Each team will have 12 hours to make their draft selection. Weekends will be frozen during the draft for owners with responsibilities. Drafting can continue on the weekend, but itsnt required. Pre-drafting is available on MFL.

5.9 If an owner fails to submit a draft pick within his/her allocated time, that owner loses the pick to the end of that round. If an owner again fails to pick within the allocated time, owner loses the pick all together for that round.

5.10 If an owner fails to submit a draft pick for a second time after losing a pick all together, that owner will be replaced.

5.11 If an owner withdraws from the league during the draft, the draft will stop till a new owner is found and begin when the new owner is selected without penalizing the new team.

5.12 The salary for rookie draft picks (2006 and beyond) will be slotted according to the spot at which they were picked. This will be done according to the Rookie Draft Slot Chart. A rookie can be cut before a contract is given with no penalty.

5.13 After the rookie draft is complete, each franchise will have until 2 weeks before the regular season starts to either assign contracts to their players or put them on a DTS.

5.14 If a team does not have contracts assigned by the set deadline, that team's roster will be considered invalid an they will be docked $100 each day until they have done so.

Chapter 6 - Rosters

6.1 Each franchise will maintain an in-season active roster with a maximum of 40 players. (not including the DTS)

6.2 It is the owners’ decision on how many players to carry at each position.

6.3 During the off-season (day after the fantasy Superbowl till the 8/5 cutdowns) there will be no roster size limitation.

6.4 All rookies will count against any max roster sizes until 'DTS day' -see rule 7.10.

6.5 Roster cutdowns will be performed in three stages: Aug 5th - 60 players (Midnight EST), August 20th- 55 players (Midnight EST), and the final cut down date will be 48 hours prior to the first NFL game at 6:00 PM ET to consist of at max 40 active players, 15 DTS players, and any IR players. On final cut down day, each owner must post a message listing his ( a ) active players, ( b ) DTS players, and ( c ) IR players, if any. If a team does not meet these deadlines, said team will be docked $100 each day until they have done so.

Chapter 7 - Developmental Taxi Squad (DTS)

7.1 Each franchise will be allocated a Developmental Taxi Squad.

7.2 The DTS may contain up to 15 players. Players may be on your DTS for up to 3 full seasons who have never been assigned a GMX contract.

7.3 Contracts are not allocated to DTS players. Their salaries are counted towards the salary cap.

7.4 The deadline for announcing DTS players will be one week prior to the first NFL game at 6:00 PM EST.

7.5 Players on the DTS are not eligible to start a game until they are moved onto the active roster.

7.6 Players may be moved from the DTS to the active roster after week 1 providing there is an open roster slot and the salary cap is not exceeded. The commissioner via the messageboard, must be notified if an DTS player is to be put onto an active roster.

7.7 Players that are moved from the DTS to an active roster must immediately be given a contract and are now available to be in the weekly line-up.

7.8 Once a player is on an active roster (beginning 1 week prior to NFL season), he may not be placed on any DTS again.

7.9 DTS players do not participate in RFA.

7.10 Active roster players may not be moved to the DTS after the in-season roster deadline, of one week prior to the first NFL game at 6:00 PM EST.

7.11 FAs may be placed directly onto the DTS providing they meet all the requirements.

7.12 Traded players may be put onto the DTS only if they were on the other teams DTS before the trade.

7.13 DTS players that are accidentally submitted into a starting line-up will be removed and that team will get 0 points from that position.

7.14 Once a players 3rd season expires on your DTS, or the end of his 3rd season, you have until 48 hours prior to the first NFL game at 6:00 PM ET to assign him a contract or allow him to become a FA. He will not be a RFA, as he never had a contract on your team.

7.15 Only a rookie in his rookie yr can be placed on your DTS, not a 2nd or 3rd yr player who was never on any other roster previously. (Exception: 2nd and 3rd year players from the 2005 Veteran may be put on the DTS, but the total may not exceed 13 total. These players are only allowed to remain on your DTS until their 3rd year in the league has been completed. i.e. If you draft Carson Palmer, 2005 is the last year he can stay on your DTS, if you draft Eli Manning he can spend 2 more years on your DTS.)

Chapter 8 - Weekly Line-Ups

8.1 Each franchise may start up to 16 players each week, using one of these options:

OFFENSE

1 QB, 1 RB, 3 WR, 2 TE, 1 PK

1 QB, 1 RB, 4 WR, 1 TE, 1 PK

1 QB, 2 RB, 3 WR, 1 TE, 1 PK

1 QB, 2 RB, 2 WR, 2 TE, 1 PK

1 QB, 3 RB, 1 WR, 2 TE, 1 PK

1 QB, 3 RB, 2 WR, 1 TE, 1 PK

DEFENSE

3 DL, 3 LB, 2 DB

2 DL, 3 LB, 3 DB

8.2 Owners may start injured & bye week players, only if they have no other option on their active roster.

8.3 The deadline for naming starters is set by MFL rules, but generally a player is locked approximately 5 minutes before kick-off.

8.4 Players are locked prior to the scheduled kickoff of their respective game.

8.5 If no starters are named, the previous week's starters will be used (regardless if the players are active that week or not).

8.6 If an owner does not submit a starting lineup in the playoffs, the commish will not play your lineup and you will forfeit your game.

8.7 Players can only be inserted into a starting line-up at a position for which they are listed on their NFL teams depth chart. The official source for player positions will be NFL.com.

Chapter 9 - Player Contracts

9.1 A player contract is the number of years that the player can remain on your roster without becoming a Restricted Free Agent. There is no limit to the number of contract years you can give an individual player.

9.2 The deadline for announcing the length of new player contracts will be 48 hours prior to the first NFL game at 6:00 PM ET. If a team does not meet this deadline, said team will be docked $100 each day not meeting the deadline. If any such player is inserted into a starting lineup, any un-contracted players’ points will be subtracted from the final score.

9.3 Contract years conclude on January 15.

9.4 On January 15, all teams recover any years encumbered by players waived during the year (see section on waivers).

9.5 Free agents acquired during the season must be signed to a contract within 24 hours of the posting of the bid results.

9.6 On the Friday prior to the first NFL game, each owner must post a message on the message board listing: the number of contract years attached to each player on the active roster, on his IR, and the team's total contract years entering the season (in addition to rule 6.5 requirements). If a team does not meet this deadline, see appplicable 9.2 penalties.

9.7 All players who had only one year remaining on their contracts on January 15 become Restricted Free Agents (RFA).

9.8 All players who have multiple contract years remaining on January 15 will be reduced by one contract year.

Chapter 10 - Player Salaries

10.1 Each team will have a yearly salary cap of $30000, which they are not to exceed at any time. Any team that makes a transaction that places them over the salary cap will be penalized $50 per day of their next years salary cap space until they are back under the cap.

10.2 Salaries for the 2005 season will be determined by the veteran and rookie slotted draft charts (see 4.3 and 5.12).

10.3 Veteran salaries for the following years will be determined based on their 2005 salary plus salary increases. Salaries can increase in two possible ways.

(a) Yearly salary increase - Every year there will be a 4% increase added to each player's annual salary as a way to help facilitate the lack of player representation. This will help facilitate player turnover.

(b)Performance Percentage Increases - Along with the salary increases, the players can also earn additional raises through their seasonal performance. Based on the rankings of every player at every position an additional percentage raise will be added to the player's salary. The Salary Bonus Chart will be used to calculate the performance increases.

10.4 When an active player with a contract is released a portion of his salary is added to your salary penalties as a penalty for releasing the player before he has reached the end of his contract. This salary cap hit includes players waived during the off-season - even if the player retires or is physically unable to perform. The Salary Penalty Chart indicates the salary penalties applied based on the number of years the player was under contract when released.

10.5 For the 2005 season, a player chosen in the vet draft can be cut with no penalty, as long as it is done before that player is given a GMX contract.

10.6 Any player rostered player that passes away can be released without incurring any salary cap penalty.

Chapter 11 - Trades

11.1 Trades between teams are unlimited. However, if any trades appear to be one-sided or otherwise unfair, the league owners may be asked to vote whether or not to approve the transaction.

11.2 Either of the 2 commissioners are the only one who may call for such a vote. However, any owner is free to bring any question regarding a trade to the attention of the commissioners. If the commissioner receives 3 requests by e-mail within 48 hours of the trade to put a trade up for vote, we will submit the trade to the 14 non-involved owners for a league-wide vote, absent unusual circumstances. Vote must be 1 plus 50% who vote. Thus if everyone votes, leaving 14 non involved owners, 8 votes are required to Veto if a vote is called. Obviously if only 10 people vote, then only 6 votes are needed to veto. So to be heard, every vote counts and is encouraged to be cast regardless of your opinion of the trade, if a veto is called on by the league....

11.3 The commissioners may veto any trade without calling for a vote if its not in the best interest of both teams or is detrimental to the league as a whole. Both Commissioners must agree the trade is not appropriate for rule 11.3 to be enforced

11.4 When a trade is made, BOTH owners must notify the commissioner to make the trade official via the messageboard.

11.5 The trading deadline is 1/2 hour before the start of the week 9 NFL games..

11.6 Trades will be put on hold for 48 hours from the time of posting on the messageboard, to allow for owner/commissioner inspection. During the season, for a trade to be valid for that weeks games, it must be posted and confirmed by both parties by Friday night at 6:00EST. The 48 hour rule will not apply during RFA and the draft. But those trades can also be called to vote if look lopsided.

11.7 Every player traded carries his contract with him, including the current year.

11.8 Traded players contracts will be counted against the total years available to his NEW team and removed from his prior team.

11.9 Any exchange of players between teams cannot leave either team exceeding the maximum 40 man roster or exceeding the $30000 salary cap.

11.10 Trades that violate rule 11.09 will be voided immediately after a commissioner notices the error(s). At that point, the trade will be declared void in the trade post. Trading owners may then reconvene and agree to a new, legal trade, which will be subject to a new 48-hour review period

11.11 Any "conditional trades" must be based on stats or games played. No other conditional trades will be allowed.

11.12 Trades that involve more than one draft pick from a future year must be accompanied by team league fees for that same year. Any owner can trade up to one future draft pick. If he/she trades a second future pick (in the same trade, or 2 separate trades) he/she must pay the fees for the future year involved if this puts said owner under 6 picks for future draft. An owner must carry 6 draft picks into the next rookie draft, and 2 must be a top 3 round pick, or next yrs dues are required.

11.13 The GMX trading period resumes at 12:01 A.M. the day after the NFL Super Bowl if both teams are paid for the upcoming year.

11.14 You must keep at least 6 future picks in the first upcoming rookie draft including 2 of the top 3 rounds, or you must pay dues for the next yr before any trade will be approved. Drafts picks kept do not have to be your own to fit this criteria, as long as you have two picks in rounds 1-3, and 6 total.

11.15 Picks the 2nd upcoming draft may be traded, but dues must be paid for 2 yrs in advance for any pick that is moved before the start of the 1st upcoming rookie draft that violates rules 11.14. Once the first upcoming rookie draft begins, the 2nd upcoming rookie draft becomes the first upcoming rookie draft, and so on.

11.16 Picks 3 drafts in advance may not be traded. Trades may only involve upcoming draft and 2nd upcoming draft picks. Once upcoming draft begins, 2nd upcoming draft becomes first upcoming draft and so on...

11.17 Any draft picks traded between teams carry their original salary slot value with them. If you trade the first pick of the Vet draft, whoever is taken with that first pick, regardless of who it is and takes them gets that salary.

11.18 Only players and draft picks may be traded. Salary cap dollars can not be used as part of a trade.

Chapter 12 - Free Agency (FA)

12.1 Any player not on a GMX roster or a DTS is considered a Free Agent.

12.2 FA begins tenatively the first Thursday after the rookie draft, unless sufficient time is not available. In addition, requests will be processed in the off-season on 2/1 and 3/15.

FA dates:

March 1

March 15

First Thursday after the rookie draft

First and 3rd Thursdays in June/July

Bi-weekly, every other week, beginning on 1st Thursday in August (subject to change for the 2005 season)

Weekly once season begins

FA ends one week prior to the league championship game until March 1 the next yr

12.3 FA ends one week prior to the league championship game.

12.4 Salary cap $ is used to bid on free agents.

12.5 There is a $1 minimum for a FA bid.

12.6 Teams may only bid up to the amount of salary cap space they have available.

12.7 Bids must be in whole number increments with $1 being the lowest bid possible.

12.8 FA is a weekly process that occurs on Thursday evenings at 7pm EST. No pick-ups are allowed after this time until the following Thursday. All Commissioner/Co-commish bids are due by Wednesday night at midnight EST. The Commissioner/Co-Commish can resubmit his bid by the 7pm EST Thursday deadline if a player he bid on in the early bid had his injury status or starting status change after the Wednesday night deadline, or if otherwise substantial news breaks late justifying a later bid. All deadlines are accelerated 24 hours on weeks with Thursday night games.

12.9 Bids for FA’s must be submitted via e-mail to the official dummy league account: gmxfabid@hotmail.com. Bids received by any other means will be rejected.

12.10 The FA weekly process will be conducted in a *blind auction* manner. (no team will know how much another team is bidding) All bids will remain *sealed* until Thursday at 7pm EST (Wednesday when Thursday night games are played)

12.11 During the season, bids must contain all of the following: the name of the franchise, the name of the free agent(s) you want to acquire, the salary bid for that player, a conditional release notice indicating the player you will waive to make room for the new player. Owners can submit conditional picks (ex- "Troy Aikman, if Aikman no longer available, Dan Marino"). Submit all requests in one e-mail using the 'waiver template', even if attempting to make two transactions:

Waiver Request #1

Player to be added:

Player to be dropped:

12.12 If more than one team requests the same player, the team submitting the highest bid will acquire that player.

12.13 During the season: In the event that two or more teams submit the same high bid for a player, the commissioner will award the free agent to the team with the worst record followed by the team that has scored the fewest points.

12.14 During the off-season: In the event that two or more teams submit the same high bid for a player, the free agent will be awarded to the team with the worst record the previous year, followed by total points. In the inaugural pre-season, any tie will be broken by a auction, with first owner to submit email to account starting the bid by $1 more than his original bid, and so on until player is claimed.

12.15 During the season, FA pick-ups must be signed to a contract within 24 hours after winning bids have been announced. An owner cannot formally add the free agent through waivers until he/she assigns a contract to the player that complies with the roster and salary caps.

12.16 Multiple FA request forms will result in only the last one being processed.

Chapter 13 - Waivers

13.1 If a franchise waives a player and wishes to reclaim that player, the player in question must clear waivers (be dropped at least 48 hours before that week's waiver deadline and not picked up by any of the other 15 owners). This includes, but is not limited to players chosen in the 2005 vet and rookie draft, who are cut before contract assignment.

13.2 If the owner is successful in reclaiming their player, then the owner has the right to issue a new contract.

Chapter 14 - Restricted Free Agents (RFA)

14.1 Once a player’s contract expires, he becomes a Restricted Free Agent.

14.2 RFA bidding begins April 1 and closes on April 30. No new bids will not be accepted after April 30; "bids in process" may continue beyond April 30 until a final offer is reached for a player.

14.3 All RFA bids are made on the message board and each bid must include the player’s name and the amount bid.

14.4 During the first 2 weeks of RFA owners are allowed to open bidding on their own players.

14.5 Once a bid is posted on a player, other interested owners have 24 hours to increase the bid.

14.6 Any owner may join the bidding process within the 24-hour period of the last bid.

14.7 A players' bids will be closed after 24 hours has passed with no new bids.

14.8( a ) Once a player's bids are closed, the current owner will then have 24 hours from the time the final high bid was placed to match the high bid, trade said player, or allow the player to be signed by the highest bidding team.

14.8( b ) If a bid has been in over 24 hrs but we havent had time to close it, new bids will not count. .

14.9 Owners may drop out of the bidding process for any individual player at any time unless they have the high bid. They may re-enter the process as long as bidding remains active for the player in question.

14.10 Owners who place bids must have enough salary cap space available to cover all outstanding high bids.

14.11 If an owner overbids their budget at any time, that owner will be assessed a fine of $100 salary cap dollars and all bids that said team has the high bid will be removed from the board. These same players will remain RFAs and may be placed back on the board with valid bids.

14.12 If a RFA player goes without a bid from any owner (including his original owner) throughout the RFA period, he becomes a UFA. If an owner bids on one of his own RFAs he still retains the right to match the highest bid.

14.13 Restricted Free-agents may be traded for picks or other players at any time.

14.14 From the time a RFA bid is closed until the last Friday prior to the first NFL game at 6:00 PM EST (contract assignment deadline), the player will be on a temporary 1-year contract. Therefore, if the player is released after being acquired and before being assigned a contract, 50% of his salary (winning bid) will count against the new owner's cap for the upcoming season.

Chapter 15 - Transition Player (TP)

15.1 - Each yr an owner may designate 1 player whose contract expires before April 1 free agency, to be his transition player.

15.2 - A transition player may be bid on by any team in the league, except the original owner.

15.3 - Once the highest bid is finalized the original owner has two options:

1) Give the player a salary equal to the average of the top 10 players salaries at his position, match the highest bid, or continue his current salary, whichever of the three is the greatest.

2) Let the player go to the highest bidder, with the final bid becoming his new salary. As compensation for losing the transition player, the original owner receives high bids 2nd round pick in the next upcoming rookie draft. If a team does not have a 2nd round pick in the upcoming rookie draft they are prohibited from bidding on a transition player, unless they have an uncommitted 1st round pick for said year, which can be used in place of the 2nd.

For example lets use a salary of 1000:

1. Highest bid is $900 and current salary is 1000 avg of top 10 is 1500

2. Highest bid is $900 and current salary is 1000 and avg of top 10 is $950

3. Highest bid is $2000 and current salary is 1000 and avg of top 10 is 1500

Scenario 1

IF the owner retains player his salary is $1500

IF owners lets him go to the high bidder the salary is $900 and the original owner gets high bids 2nd round pick in the upcoming rookie draft.

Scenario 2

IF the owner retains the player his salary will be 1000

IF the owner lets him go to the high bidder the salary will be $900 and the original owner gets high bids 2nd round pick in the upcoming rookie draft.

Scenario 3

IF the owner retains player his salary will be $2000

IF the owner lets him go to the high bidder the salary will be $2000 and the original owner gets high bids 2nd round pick in the upcoming rookie draft.

15.5 - If a team which bids on a franchise player has mutiple second round picks, the pick they give up will be based on the following criteria:

1.) - If you only have your original 2nd...... then obviously you forfeit that pick.

2.) - If you have multiple 2nd. Rd. picks and one of them is your original...... then you forfeit your original 2nd. .... regardless of what the other pick is.

3.) - If you own multiple picks and none of them are your original then you forfeit the pick that is closest to your original pick in the order.... regardless of direction.

EXAMPLES -

if you originally owned the 2.6.... and now you own the 2.5 & 2.8...... you'd forfeit the 2.5.

if you owned the 2.3.... and now own the 2.1 & 2.6..... then yes, you'd forfeit the 2.1.

if you owned the 2.12..... and now own the 2.1 & 2.14.... then you'd forfeit the 2.14.

a dice roll will determine the pick if you own 2 picks exactly in the middle of your original pick. For example if your original pick was 2.9, and you now have picks 2.7 and 2.11, you roll the dice. 3 100 sided dice = maximum roll of 300. If you roll 151 or higher you give up the highest pick of the 2, which is 2.11, if you roll 150 or lower you give up the lowest pick of the 2, which is 2.7.

Chapter 16 - Franchise Player (FP)

16.1 - Each yr an owner may designate 1 player, whose contract expires before April 1 free agency, to be his franchise player.

16.2 - A franchise player may be bid on by any team in the league, except the original owner.

16.3 - Once the highest bid is finalized the original owner has two options:

Give the player a salary equal to the average of the top 5 players salaries at his position, match the highest bid, or continue his current salary, whichever of the three is the greatest.

2) Let the player go to the highest bidder, with the final bid becoming his new salary. As compensation for losing the franchise player, the original owner receives high bids 1st round pick in the next 2 upcoming rookie drafts. If a team does not have a 1st round pick in the 2 upcoming consecutive rookie drafts they are prohibited from bidding on a franchise player.

For example lets use a current salary of 1000:

1. Highest bid is $900 and current salary is 1000 avg of top 5 is 1500

2. Highest bid is $900 and current salary is 1000 and avg of top 5 is $950

3. Highest bid is $2000 and current salary is 1000 and avg of top 5 is 1500

Scenario 1

IF the owner retains player his salary is $1500

IF owners lets him go to the high bidder the salary is $900 and the original owner gets high bids 1st round pick in the next 2 upcoming rookie drafts.

Scenario 2

IF the owner retains the player his salary will be 1000

IF the owner lets him go to the high bidder the salary will be $900 and the original owner gets high bids 1st round pick in the next 2 upcoming rookie drafts.

Scenario 3

IF the owner retains player his salary will be $2000

IF the owner lets him go to the high bidder the salary will be $2000 and the original owner gets high bids 1st round pick in the next 2 upcoming rookie drafts.

If a team does not have a 1st round pick in the 2 upcoming consecutive rookie drafts they are prohibited from bidding on a franchise player.

16.5 - If a team which bids on a franchise player has mutiple first round picks in a given year, the pick they give up will be based on the following criteria:

1.) - If you only have your original 1st...... then obviously you forfeit that pick.

2.) - If you have multiple 1st. Rd. picks and one of them is your original...... then you forfeit your original 1st. .... regardless of what the other pick is.

3.) - If you own multiple picks and none of them are your original then you forfeit the pick that is closest to your original pick in the order.... regardless of direction.

EXAMPLES -

if you originally owned the 1.6.... and now you own the 1.5 & 1.8...... you'd forfeit the 1.5.

if you owned the 1.3.... and now own the 1.1 & 1.6..... then yes, you'd forfeit the 1.1.

if you owned the 1.12..... and now own the 1.1 & 1.14.... then you'd forfeit the 1.14.

a dice roll will determine the pick if you own 2 picks exactly in the middle of your original pick. For example if your original pick was 1.9, and you now have picks 1.7 and 1.11, you roll the dice. 3 100 sided dice = maximum roll of 300. If you roll 151 or higher you give up the highest pick of the 2, which is 1.11, if you roll 150 or lower you give up the lowest pick of the 2, which is 1.7.

Chapter 17 - Injured Reserve (IR)

17.1 There is no limit on the number of IR players a team has.

17.2 When placed on IR his salary is still counted towards the cap.

17.3 IR is available starting with the August 5th roster cutdown.

17.4 Once a player is placed on Injured Reserve he must remain there for the remainder of that season.

17.5 Once a player is placed on IR, the club can pick up another player but they must go through the Free Agent channel as with any other pick up. (This essentially allows the signing of another player with that one contract year and active slot)

17.6 At the conclusion of the X-Bowl, all players on IR will become part of the active roster and count towards any off-season roster limits, if any.

17.7 During the season, a player qualifies for the IR by being placed on a NFL PUP list or on the IR officially by an NFL team.

17.8 During the pre-season, a player qualifies for IR by being listed as "out for the year", in addition to any rule 17.7 eligibility.

Chapter 18 - Play-Offs

18.1 The GMX play-offs begin on week fourteen (14) of the NFL season.

18.2 The play-offs conclude on week sixteen (16) with the X-Bowl and Frustration Bowl.

18.3 Six teams advance to the post-season. Three teams from each conference: both division winners and 1 wildcard.

18.4 Week 14 will consist of the Wildcard Games: seed 1 receives a bye, seed 2 vs seed 3 in each Conference.

18.5 Week 15 is the Semi-Finals: seed 1 vs lowest seed remaining in each conference.

18.6 Week 16 is the X-Bowl: week 15 winners.

18.7 Week 16 is also the Frustration: week 15 losers. The game is solely for the purpose of determining 3rd place money (will not count in the record boooks, for draft seeding, etc.).

18.8 The GMX tie-breaking system for play-off qualification and seeding is as follows. Teams will first be sorted within their division by the criteria below and the two division winners will always be the top 2 seeds.

1. Head-to-head record- including group head to head winning percentage if more than 2 teams.

2. Total Overall Points

3. Division Record

4. Dice Roll

5. The two division winners will always be the top 2 seeds.

18.9 Once the 2 division winners are established using the above criteria, teams vying for the wild-card spot will then be re-seeded from scratch using the above criteria (criteria 3 only used if all tied teams from the same division). Hence it is a 2-step process, each step being independent of the other.

18.10 All playoff teams with the home field advantage will receive a .5 credit in the event of a tie.

18.11 Sample tie-breaker for a wild-card spot or a division title:

4 teams (A, B, C, D) are tied at 8-5. A & B are 5-3 in group head-to-head, C & D are 3-5. C & D are eliminated. The A & B tie is then broken restarting from step 1 of the tie-breakers. In this hypothetical, A & B split their 2 games at 1-1. B had more overall points. Hence B gets the #1 seed, while A is #2.

Chapter 19 - Payouts/Payments

19.1 The inaugural 2005 year will cost 50$. The payment deadline will be March 1st.

19.2 All fees will be collected using snail mail or paypal.

19.3(a) Any payment not received by March 1st, said owner will be docked $50 cap dollars per day for up to 1 week, 7 days until payment arrives. Ex: its 3 days late, docked $150 against the salary cap.

19.3(b)DTS players, and © IR players, if any. If a team does not meet these deadlines, said team will be docked $50 against their salary cap, each day until they have done so.

19.4 Payout will be 100% of franchise fees minus the cost of running the MFL.com software- currently slightly less than 5$ an owner.

19.5 All payouts through personal check will occur within seven days of the week 16 X-Bowl.

19.6 The top four playoff teams will divide the pot as follows:1st-45%; 2nd-30%,3rd-15%,4th-10%. Payouts may be rounded to the nearest 10$ where appropriate, but still in accordance with rule 16.4.

Thinking of changing our local to a salary cap league. Searched here and didn't find much. League is hosted through MFL and I know they support it.

For those that play in capped leagues...what are your opinions on it? It sounds challenging to say the least.

I run a Salary Cap league and (I have to say) it is one of the most fun and challenging leagues I have ever seen. We have a $200 salary cap. It is a keeper league where you can keep a maximum of 5 players year to year (it isnt a dynasty league). If you keep a player you have to add $8 to his salary (not sure why, but the number jjust works) but you can give multi-year contracts where the players salary increase only $4 in the 2nd year and if you are bold enough $2 in the third year (you have an option of 2 or 3 year long term contract). You cannot have more than 3 players under long term contract.

obviously the risk of a long term contract is the Shaun Alexander factor (or maybe more currently the Joseph Addai factor). Yes, we have an owner that was stuck with Addai the past 2 years.

You really have to manage your team well to have a chance to win. Free Agency is bidding each week. You bid your cap space. So if you have a guy stinking it up that you paid $12 for and there is a sure fire free agent out there, you would have to drop that guy for the free agent. sometimes that works out, sometimes it doesnt (obviously).

Anyway, I could go on about how great this kind of league is forever. Makes everything more challenging - trading is tougher because you have to match up salaries. Tough to trade a $50 player who has under achieved a bit for a $2 Free Agent like Peyton Hillis because of salary cap restraints. Much better for league stability IMO.
