Wolverines Fan
Did a quick Google search. Jim Tomsula, the d-line coach, will become interim coach for SF's last game. Edited December 27, 2010 by Wolverines Fan
Unbelievable
Hate it for the guy. Â Too bad heart and passion don't win championships. Â Don't plan on drafting Vernon Davis next year. He'll be back to being a thug by next year.

Wolverines Fan
NFL Network is covering it right now. Â Jason La Canfora of NFL Network says the 49ers asked for his resignation, and Singletary refused to quit. They fired him. He'll be back to being a thug by next year.  I'm old enough to remember Singletary from his playing days wtih the Bears. The man put his heart and soul into everything he did...heck, he put 1000% effort into everything he did on the field and was successful, and I always respected that. Hate to admit it, but he doesn't seem cut out to be a head coach. A position coach? Probably.  I agree with you on Davis. And he is Alex Smith's favorite target, and I doubt Smith will be on the roster next year. bushwacked
Too bad heart and passion don't win championships. Â That goes a long way for a player, not as much for a coach. Â There was no excuse for San Fran not dominating the NFC West this year. The fact that San Fran is eliminated from the title before Week 17 is astounding when you look how bad Seattle is how mediocre St. Louis is. Wolverines Fan
They're interviewing David White of the SF Chronicle on NFL Network. White says Jed York (owner?) told him that he felt Singletary, direct quote, "lost the team." And White says the whole thing had been building since the poor start. York says they should have won the division easily. Â Hard to argue that stuff. Edited December 27, 2010 by Wolverines Fan

millerx
He'll back back some day in another city with a better opportunity and a better team and situation. He'll also have gained the knowledge of lessons learned from this crappy organization. Much like a Belichick, he will rise again. San Fran had: Â - A decent to good defense (they were very good last year) - A good O-line with a great RB - A great TE with an emerging WR Â While Alex Smith was not good; Arizona's QB's were worse, Seattle's QBs consisted of a one-armed turnover machine with a more ineffective backup, and St. Louis had a rookie with CFL type receivers. San Fran would have won this division with Brad Childress coaching them.

San Fran coming into this week at 5-9 and still with a chance of winning the division is all you need to know about the awfulness that is the NFC West. SheikYerbuti
I think if Gore wasn't injured Singletary would still be employed. Â That being said, he really came across as a clown and a lunatic. I wouldn't hire him.

i_am_the_swammi
I get that he's a fiery, defensive coach who supposedly can get guys to play for him.... but man, the dude is an embarrassment on the sidelines, and IMO, with his juvenile tirades like today with Troy Smith, has lost the respect of his players.  my post from the other thread,....   i_am_the_swammi

cdrudge
Â Jason La Canfora of NFL Network says the 49ers asked for his resignation, and Singletary refused to quit. They fired him.In this job market, I'd refuse to quit to. If you quit, you definitely won't be getting that $450 a week in unemployment... Quit/fired, it's not like his next team isn't going to know what really happened to him.
