CaptainHook
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- Jacksonville Jaguars owner Wayne Weaver says coach Jack Del Rio's job is safe. Weaver and Del Rio had a lengthy meeting Monday. Del Rio explained what went wrong this season and outlined a plan to fix things. Weaver and Del Rio had a similar meeting last year, when the coach talked Weaver into keeping him. The Jaguars (8-8) ended this season with a three-game losing streak, blowing a chance to clinch the AFC South and return to the postseason for the first time since 2007. Jacksonville ended last year on a four-game slide, and the team is 4-11 in December and January under Del Rio the last three years. Del Rio, 66-65 with the Jaguars, is the first coach since the NFL merger in 1970 to lead the same team for eight years without capturing a division title. link

Chief Dick
Does he have GM/Personnel duties there?
BeeR
He's been there EIGHT years? Wow hard to beleive. He isn't the worst coach around, but yeah it is surprising that he's given so much time, esp in this day and age. It's refreshing compared to these coaches who get a whopping year or 2 and are axed, but.......

CaptainHook
Does he have GM/Personnel duties there? no. it was James "Shack" Harris, who really made some strange picks. It's Gene Smith now. Edited January 4, 2011 by CaptainHook
