Bowe misses practice after Chiefs Sign Curtis?

Dwayne Bowe was not on the Chiefs practice field Wednesday for undisclosed reasons.

We'd usually think nothing of it, but the Chiefs' Wednesday signing of free agent Kevin Curtis makes it a potential concern. Bowe caught five passes for 68 yards in K.C.'s regular season finale and didn't appear injured at any point. His knucklehead history has us wondering if something else is up. Stay tuned for updates. His loss would be major with Baltimore on tap

Wed, 05 Jan 2011 12:04:42 -0800

Updating a previous report, Kansas City Chiefs WR Dwayne Bowe (illness) did not participate in practice Wednesday, Jan. 5, because of an illness, reports Josh Looney, of KCChiefs.com.

Just heard the same thing on Sirius radio.

3 weeks ago Cassel isnt at practice and Haley says it's because of an "illness". Same day Palko was signed.

Today Bowe isnt at practice and Haley says it's because of an "illness". Today Curtis was signed.

Coincidence?

sooo you're saying that he had his appendix removed?

At first I wasn't sure of the context...Bowe didn't participate because of an illness, he missed practice because ______________ (insert knucklehead issue). Then I read:

NFL Network's Jason La Canfora reports that the Chiefs are "confident" Dwayne Bowe (illness) will play in the Wild Card round.

"He is sick, but nothing more than that," writes La Canfora, adding that there are "no hidden injuries." Bowe's absence from practice was initially concerning coupled with the morning signing of Kevin Curtis, but it appears Kansas City's top receiver will be ready to start against Baltimore. It's a big relief in Todd Haley's first head-coaching trip to the postseason.
