Dear NFL

Several years back NFLN began letting him do booth work for the Senior Bowl, and it's slowly gotten him to where we saw him today.

The guy puts Mel Kiper to shame year after year in his prospect evaluations, and is finally beginning to show people he deserves a spot full time breaking down plays.

Mike Mayock is my favorite analyst by far. He is amazing at evaluating talent and he is right about his assesment of players much more often than he is wrong. IMO, he's the premier football guy on TV by far.

Amazing the NFLN hasn't tapped him to help in the Thursday night booth. Or maybe they asked him and he declined? He deserves a chance..

Mayock lives in the Philly area (not sure if he actually lives in Philly or not) and I know that he spends a ton of his time at NFL Films in Mt. Laurel NJ...Have jokingly told my wife that we should move to NJ (I am from there originally) and that I will stalk Mayock outside of NFL Films and pester him to take me under his wing and team me everything he knows. Sad thing is that I am kinda sorta serious.

Kiper is a dinosaur and completely clueless. How long till ESPN take the talent for themselves.

Don't think it will happen to be honest.

Mayock isn't an Adam Scheft kinda guy, who liked finding the breaking story - he wants to do scouting, player analysis and commentary year round - which NFL Network provides really the perfect and only venue for. I'm pretty sure he has his dream job right where he is.

Hopefully the mother-ship just leaves him alone.

I would tend to think NFL Network is THE gig to have. And ESPN isn't stealing any NFLN people..its the other way around.

as KP said, ESPN 'stole' Shefter and NFLN was annoyed enough about it that they sat him the last three months of his contract. What the fook did I forget so I could store that non-sense in my brain?

That may be true, but I think that was before NFLN established itself. Remember, NFLN "stole" Wingo (one of my favorite ESPN broadcasters btw).

NFLN stole Eisen in 2003 when they launched, but how can you blame the guy? They wanted him to be the guy on their network.

Schefter left NFLN in 2009. From Scheft's Wiki:

According to a USA Today survey of fans published January 19, 2009: "NFL Network's Adam Schefter edged ESPN's Chris Mortensen (34%-32%) for best [NFL] insider despite the NFL Network being in less than half as many U.S. households." Schefter was selected as the best (NFL) insider in another USA Today poll in November 2010.

And... you know Trey Wingo works for ESPN right?
