Bob Fescoe of 610 Kansas City is reporting that Haley stripped Weiss of his play calling duties at half time..trailing 10-7. So thats where J.Charles went!! What a moran.

Maybe he thought his mind was already on his next coaching job ?

He could of thought his mind was already in Florida ??

Maybe it makes a little more sense now, why Weiss is leaving the OC job in the NFL to take a OC job at Florida. Chances are Muschamp will let him run his own offense 100%. Haley always seems to mess with his players. Maybe he pulls the same chit with the coaches.

I've heard from talk around here that the decision to leave was mainly family reasons.

Though I don't doubt working for Haley is a PITA. Not sure about the Fescoe story though. Haven't heard that yet. But it wouldn't surprise me. Weis HAS made some peculiar play calls this year that I've even scratched my head at.

And it may be Weis who wasn't utilizing Charles to his full potential. Just me speculating.

I find the whole thing bizarre, especially in a game of this magnitude when you are only down 3 points at half time. J.Charles only got 3 touches in the second half after tearing up the Ravens D in the first half.

Hadn't heard that. What kind of family reasons? I've been to KC plenty of times and I wouldn't think they are living in some bad neighborhood. Heck, coming from South Bend, KC should look like a beautiful metropolis.

I am sure that I read this earlier in a different thread, I just cant find it now. So sorry for the double info. It has nothing to do with KC, but rather his son. According to Lee Corso and several others, Charlie Weiss, Jr is a coordinator at U. Florida. Charlie Weiss wanted to be with his son and family, so he asked for an interview. He was hired and will start working with his son now that the Chiefs were eliminated. One of several articles when you google is this from ESPN:

I also heard he has an autistic daughter who has not taken the move to KC well. Apparently she did great in South Bend and there was a facility there that was either built by them or for them and other autistic kids. His wife supposedly is moving back to South Bend for the daughters sake, and Weis is going to Florida to be with his son. The thinking being that at least one of them is with each kid and they would fly back and forth when time permitted. I'm guessing the college game allows more freedom for that type of thing.

ESPN's Adam Schefter disputes a report that Chiefs coach Todd Haley stripped OC Charlie Weis' play-calling duties at halftime of Sunday's playoff loss.

Schefter reports that Weis called the offensive plays in both halves against Baltimore. Regardless, whoever was doing it didn't do a good enough job, getting the ball in Jamaal Charles' hands just three times in the final two quarters. Schefter does confirm that Weis and Haley's relationship has "deteriorated." Weis will be the Florida Gators' play-caller in 2011.

Mike Florio at Profootballtalk.com is backpedaling on the validity of the story too. Apparently the guy at AM 610, Brescoe or whoever, got his information second hand and didn't bother to call up the Chiefs/Haley/Weiss and ask whether it was true. Ah, the sad state of journalism nowadays.

but do you really think the coach is going to say, yeah I took the duties away from him and that was when we got our collective asses handed to us

Not surprised by this. Fescoe has always been, shall we say, full of it?
