tazinib1
Well I had been calling for this since mid-season, but not so sure now. The guy has been the ST's coach for awhile and was left with a depleted unit. Thanks again AJ Smith. Looking forward to see what the new guy brings to the table...I just hope it isn't more KO/P returns for TD's. The 2 guys that SHOULD have been shown the door are Norv and AJ...instead, we lose 2 great coaches. Keep it up SD, you're making Al Davis look like a freaken genius. Now that I know who that is, I'm not sure whether to be sad he's leaving or not.
FWmaker
Would it be wrong if I wanted to be Chargerz' special teams coach?

McBoog
The Chargers’ 2010 performance on special teams was arguably the worst in NFL history. Only a few teams had ever allowed more than four blocked punts (plus a deflection) or four kicks returned for touchdowns. No team had come close to doing both in the same season. Further, the Chargers’ allowed an NFL-record 18.9 yards per punt return. When 1/3 of your units is the "worst in NFL history", you know why they struggled so badly this year. Sure, STs are not 1/3 of the plays, but they have the potential to be some of the biggest game changers. Link also talks about new ST Coach and potential replacements for Rivera. loaf
Now that I know who that is, I'm not sure whether to be sad he's leaving or not. Chud was well respected here in Cleveland. People were sad to see him go.

In yardage, the Chargers were #1 over-all in Offense and #1 over-all in Defense. Only the 2nd time in NFL history a team was #1 in both categories and missed the play-offs. Only the 2nd time in NFL history a team was #1 in both categories and missed the play-offs. I think that there was a little bit of illusion going on with the Charger D this year. They were very good and definitely playoff caliber. But, I don't think they were worthy of #1. Because of how awful the ST played this year, the opposing offenses were on short fields a lot and I think that helped greatly in cutting down on the yards against. Yes, they did shut down teams for more 3 and outs this year, but they also gave up too many big drives on short fields (Rams game comes to mind) instead of shutting them down when they had to. The offense also played on an awful lot of long fields this year too. They had to earn those yards to stay in games and at least were able to. Ugly season.
