Has Tom Brady Become Peyton Manning?

 He's not "tweaking" either side. In fact anything but, and he gets what a lot of goofballs here and elsewhere don't: ie:

It’s also football that clods who know no better blame and credit the quarterback for every loss and win, regardless of how the game was played.

Teams win football games, and teams lose them.

That title is absolutely tweaking both sides, you don't like it because you're on one of them.

And of course he's right about the credit/blame game, but when you're the one throwing a pick six with less than a few minutes to play you're kinda on the hook for that.

OK now I see, you stopped reading at the title. That clears a lot up.

Still kinda weak though. "Has Tom Brady Turned Into Peyton Manning" is a bit on the vague side.

He should have mentioned Sanchez, who has carried the Jets on his back for a 4-1 playoff record the pasttwo years, all on the road.

Couldn't have said it better myself. Has Brady become Manning? The better observation is that the Patriots have lost their defensive magic. So I guess in a way he has become Manning because he plays on a team that can't help carry him anymore. He had no run game and the defense couldn't stop the Jets offense when it mattered. Same story as the week before with the Colts yet somehow that was all Peyton's fault for being a bad playoff QB. Looks like we are seeing the real Tom "Terrific".

From 2001-2004 the Patriots were 9-0 in the playoffs. From 2005 until today they are 5-5.

From 2001-2004, the Patriots allowed 16 points per game in the playoffs. From 2005 until today, it's a little over 21.

I'm not sure that Tom Brady suddenly became worse in the playoffs after 2004, but the playoff defense sure fell off a cliff. What happened between 2004 and 2005 that could account for the defense hurting so badly? I'm sure there was some personnel attrition, but I'm also pretty sure the famous Bill Polian 'Hey, how about we play football instead of wrestling' rule emphasis on defensive backfields had an effect.

And, by extension, Brady's finding out what Manning's known forever-- it's very, very different carrying flawed teams to good records in the regular season and carrying those same flawed teams through the playoffs.

To be fair, if the Pats offense struggles, and the other team gets a lot more opportunties, naturally they are going to score more points.

A big part of the reason the 2001-2004 team was so "stingy" is that the Pats dominated time of possession by putting together clock-killing, 7-9 minute drives that ended in TDs...not that case in recent playoffs. You give the other team the ball more often, they're gonna score more points.

I like to call the rule, "My WRs have glass for bones and are nowhere near Jerry Rice or Randy Moss. Please help. TIA!"
