JEFFERSONVILLE, IN (WAVE)- Former UofL football player Michael Bush was arrested overnight in Jeffersonville, Indiana on Court Avenue.

The Clark County Jail confirms that Bush was booked into the jail early Saturday morning on charges of Operating While Intoxicated or OWI.

He was released just after 1 p.m. on Saturday. His attorney is waiting for the full report and at this time has "no comment."

Bush was a star athlete at both Male High School and the University of Louisville. He currently plays in the NFL for the Oakland Raiders.

There is something funny about this charge... Operating While Intoxicated (OWI) doesn't that usually mean that u weren't driving a car??? I thought if u r driving a car they charge it as DUI (driving under intoxication) and this when it's a non vechicle. (something like a bike, horse, tractor or something like that)

I might be way of base and this is just what they charge people where this happened...

It's the same as a DUI. In Indiana it's called an OWI.

Is what you are looking for.

Not in Wisconsin.

Just a guess, but I think OWI is alcohol while DUI could be any drug or condition (Opperating while intoxicated as opposed to Driving under Influence - anything). But the above posters are right, it's totally different by state.
