Raiders tag Kamerion Wimbley

I must say, this is probably the best move the Raiders have done this year. Even though I believe TE Miller is a tangible part of the offense and they now stand a strong chance of losing him via FA, tagging perhaps one of the best OLB's in the NFL was more than likely the smartest thing to do. Wimbley comes with a $10million cost to the Raiders budget.

Eh. Kam had a great season with the Raiders, but $10M is a bit steep imo. The only reason he's been franchised is because there were problems with his $3M buyback option. (It violated the 30 percent rule).

Raiders also signed Stanford Routt to a three year, $31M contract. A bit steep, but Routt DOES have one of the best pass defense percentages in the AFC, so I'll take it.

Zach is now a question, and Nnamdi is out the door.

I don't think either of the moves are that horrible to be honest.

We find a way to bring back two of Zach, Gallery and Huff and we've had a great off season imo.

Maybe they've done the best they could, given the situation... But I'm not sure you can lose a HOF caliber player at his prime and call it great.

 True, but if he's walking regardless of the contract you're going to give him...

Oakland couldn't afford to sit around and let players like Seymour, Wimbley and Routt walk away while they were waiting for FA signing to begin - could they? Especially if there was a chance Nnamdi wouldn't be resigning anyways.

Sounds like Zach wants to stay:

“It does feel good,” Miller told Jerry McDonald of the Oakland Tribune. “It’d be great to be back in Oakland. I really feel like we’re headed in the right direction with Hue Jackson and the way things are going. We had preliminary discussions [on a contract] before deadline and I’m sure they’ll pick up again once there’s a CBA in place and we get back to business.”
