BeeR
FWIW. He's notoriously unreliable but wth they haven't had anything at TE for some time, might at least make the LBs and Ss leery enough to give the WRs more room.

Not a bad signing but I think, as somebody else suggested, Donald Lee would have been a better fit. Anything that will stretch the DB's allowing Stewart more room to run like a wild man is ok with me.

Savage Beatings
Tarvaris Jackson to Jeremy Shockey... touchdown! And the Carolina Panthers have just clinched the Division!!!
Bronco Billy
These kinds of moves are why CAR is where CAR is right now.
WaterMan
I hope Shockey likes to block for a team in shambles.
NAUgrad
I don't think Carolina is as terrible as a lot of people. They had injuries on the o-line all year, and the worst group of QB's in all of football. O-line comes back healthy and they pick up an average QB and this team jumps to a 7-9, 8-8 team in one year. The Shockey signing is sort of mmmeeehhh to me. Not bad, but not great. Could help some. The biggest need is QB period. This team will get better quickly. Much faster than Detroit. You've seen the QB situation and who they have catching the football, right? That could get much worse if S Smith leaves, which is starting to appear likely. You've seen that their pass rush is miserable, right? This is a passing league now. And you are talking about needing a substantial influx of talent at QB, WR, and DL to be just mediocre. CAR isn't anywhere near what DET is right now. Edited March 4, 2011 by Bronco Billy

Perhaps you haven't seen as many games as I have with the Panthers. You are dead wrong in this. Is WR an issue? Absolutely, but the QB situation is THE major problem with this team right now. Period. They are no where near as bad as Detroit was. Not even close. They get a decent QB who actually has poise and can throw the ball, then they will improve dramatically. If Steve leaves, of course their WR would be hurt. DUH? But he hasn't left and the only thing I read was speculation.

You also must have missed their awful DL situation, too. Plus their LBs can't stay on the field. Lot of holes in CAR. They've got who I think is a good guy to fix it, but there's a ton of work to do before they are competitive again.

I see them 0-6 just in the division next year...1-5 at best. They aint goin' 8-2 against the rest of the league.

piratesownninjas
Perhaps you haven't seen as many games as I have with the Panthers. Perhaps you didn't see the 2010 Lions. IF Stafford stays healthy they're going to to go neck and neck with the Bears for 2nd in 2011. Don't sleep on them.

I just think that if they get a serviceable QB, a decent (not great, just decent) WR2 and use their first pick on the D-line, this team improves tremendously. At least to 6 or better wins next year. The Millen years Detroit, I'd agree. Since then, sorry, not even close.
