Negotiation vs Litigation

Listening to the sound bytes from the owners, Jeff Pash, and Roger Goodell this week, they are all singing the same song:

"We look forward to getting back to the negotiating table and getting a deal done." "The union walked away from negotiations, not us." "We will be waiting, and when the union is ready to negotiate again, we'll be ready." (Paraphrasing)

Listening to Sirius NFL radio this week, they interviewed many players and some of the union reps, such as D. Foxworth from the Ravens. He said that the NFL reps did NOT even have people in the room who could make final decisions---that they kept saying "we'll have to go talk with the owners about this.".

Both sides have repeatedly stated that they fully believe the other side was headed for lockout / decertification respectively. Not too much trust there, is there?

My point is that I believe there is no negotiation to be had now: it's all in the hands of the judges. How can the owners say they look forward to negotiating when a judge is going to decide weather the lockout is illegal or not? The courts may FORCE the NFL to operate under last year's CBA, so I can only imagine the bad blood that will exist after that decision.

Basically I really do not care at this point. They already lost 75% of my interest in the NFL.

+1. On its way even higher. We certainly should not be talking about this crap right now. The draft is in a month, OTAs soon after, then preseason... It is downright stupid that this is the hot topic.
