buddahj
According to the Houston Chronicle, the Texans will use Mario Williams at outside linebacker in their new 3-4.Mario is 6-foot-7, 290, so he'll be the biggest linebacker in NFL history. (Yes, even bigger than Levon Kirkland.) The Patriots once considered pursuing Julius Peppers (6'7/280) to play outside 'backer in their 3-4, although Williams isn't quite as athletic. Still, it will give him a better chance at sacks than 3-4 defensive end would have. Connor Barwin and Brooks Reed, the No. 42 overall pick will compete for the job opposite Mario. Bronco Billy
I don't get these experiments. So the guy is an athletic DE, that automatically makes him capable of playing in space and having LB capability? The skills sets/position requirements are so different between DE and LB. It's like DCs are having wet dreams and just can't wait it out for real. I see this as becoming another in a line of failures in trying this kind of transition.
