rajncajn
But is it agreeable? - Details of proposed NFL CBA revealed by sources All of the NFL owners are meeting on Tuesday with NFL commissioner Roger Goodell so that they can all be on the exact same page. There was said to have been some disagreements amongst them lately and that could indeed make the 2011 NFL Lockout go on longer. Goodell wanted each to have their say if need be, but there was not going to be a vote on the new Collective Bargaining Agreement. What would be done though is that the details of the proposed CBA were going to be revealed to the owners by Goodell. Sources are now letting out what the details for this possible new CBA could be and that includes a 48 percent share for the players. ESPN's Chris Mortensen says that the next propsed agreement will have players receive a 48 percent share of "all revenue," without the $1-billion-plus credit off the the top that had been a point of contention in earlier negotiations. If this new formula were to stay in places, players will receive 48 percent of all revenue and never see their share dip below 46.5 percent. Previously, players received approximately 60 percent of "total revenue" but that was without the $1 billion which was designated as an expense credit off the top of the $9 billion model. Owners then were seeking another $1 billion credit to substantially reduce that amount before going forth with the lockout in early March. Sources say that the new proposed deal will still give owners some expense credits allowing funding for new stadium construction. Thankfully, a rookie wage scale will be a part of the deal but there is still work being done on it as it is constantly being "tweaked." There is also still a lot of talk going on about the 18-game regular season schedule, but right now it will be designated only as a negotiable item with the players. At no point whatsoever will it be mandated in any potential CBA. With that being said, a new 16-game Thursday night TV package beginning in 2012 will be the source of new revenue. Retired players will also benefit from improved health and pension funding that is said to be increasing significantly. This is all due to revenues that are expected to possbily double to $18 billion annually by 2016. Negotiations for these terms are said to begin again on Wednesday or Thursday with teams for both owners (lef by Goodell) and players (led by DeMaurice Smith) will reconvene. There are hopes that the good vibes coming from three strong weeks of negotiations will continue forth. Those talks were under the supervision of U.S. Magistrate Judge Arthur Boylan who was appointed by the courts. Some sources believe that if things continue at this good pace and level, then the lockout won't last past mid-July but that is on a worst case scenario. Others believe a one to two week time frame is all that remaisn in getting things done. With training camps set to begin near the end of July, any delay or breakdowns in takls between the owners and players could greatly threaten preseason games. Much more and then the lockout could start dipping into the regular season and then a whole new set of problems would arise.
