New Goal Line Studs

This guy is not going to be a vulture. He's going to get the bulk of the work.

Best is going to get 10-12 touches a game until he gets injured.

he better learn how to block for Stafford and catch if he wants to be in the game that much. if you can't block and pick up your assignments, then you can forget about him getting any more than goal line carries.

Are you suggesting that Best is a good pass protector?

I'm sure that Stafford would rather have an old couch in the backfield to hide behind instead of Best.

I am suggesting that a rookie who cannot block will not play. Stafford needs protection. Best has a year of NFL experience, now and should be better at everything. Plus, Best will be running routes and is a much better receiver and playmaker. The rap on Mikel...

Weaknesses

He hasn’t produced much in the NCAA, having only fully started for one season. He could be a bit of a one year wonder. Sometimes he tends to run a bit high, and doesn’t charge into defenders with a low shoulder. His top end speed isn’t very good, although it’s not expected of a man that’s 230+ pounds. He lost around 15-20 pounds prior to his 2010 season, and may have character concerns as he was involved in fight with a teammate in 2009. LeShoure is just mediocre in pass protection and will need to work on that as well, if he plans to be an every down back in the NFL.

What I am suggesting, a rookie RB who cannot block will either fix the problem quickly or not play, period. Forget Best, I am talking about the rookie. The minute Stafford is put on his back b/c a rookie misses an easy block is the minute that rookie gets put on the bench permanently. I like your guy by the goaline, but not to play in betweeen the 20's b/c that is where Best is best! And Best is BY FAR a better play maker than Mikel will ever be.

Fine. But somebody has to take snaps at RB and run the football. Your boy Best averaged 35 yds rushing a game and 3.2 yds a carry. I'm not sure why somebody would expect him to be significantly better this year. There is a high probability that Best will get injured again.

Best is a valuable receiver. (see Bush, R.)

Leshore will get significantly more carries that Best between the 20s -mediocre pass protector or not, The Lions don't have any other choice.

If your O-Line gets better and your QB stays healthy enough for defenses to play the pass then I would expect Best to improve his YPC avg. Best will outperform any Detroit RB in all categories becuase he is by far the most talented RB on the team. Leshore has not even been hit by an NFL player yet, let alone get in a Pro-sized LBers grill. Let's see if he can even hang onto the football when the O-Line collapses in front of him like the Lions have done in the recent past

But yes, I good late pick for sleeper, I agree, because of the injury probablitly for Best, not because this guy is pro ready.

Delone Carter anyone? The more I look at him, the more I think his floor is as a goal-line back that's been sorely lacking in IND... Maybe its my delusions kicking in as owner of the guy, but I think he fills a big need in a big offense very well there.

Meh. Yeah, he's certainly built for the role, but come on. A rookie, with a shortened training camp, in one of the NFL's most complex offenses? I don't care if it's goal-line or not, he's going to have to be pretty darn special to get playing time over a host of other options the Colts have.

I guess this would be the appropriate spot to mention that I think the Colts re-sign Joseph Addai and he has a pretty good season.
