i_am_the_swammi
Just curious: 1. Does anyone believe the bye week for #1/#2 seeds holds any value in the NFL, other than to rest your players an extra week and/or to have extra time to prepare? 2. Does anyone think earning a playoff bye in fantasy football has any value? We are trying to place a value on "playoff byes" in our fantasy league, so any input would be appreciated! osu1322
In the NFL resting ur players is hugh in the playoffs. Some teams have went so far as to rest starters during the season because they have locked up the #1 seed and have made the playoffs. In FF yes it's important. However in putting a value on it everyone values things differently. However unless u can trade for a Bye week in the playoffs it doesn't really matter... detlef
At least the notion of losing momentum is a valid argument against the benefit of a bye week in real football. Not saying it's a strong enough argument to counter it, but it's there. Having the bye is not an undisputed 100% benefit even if, it is, overall an advantage. That simply can't be said about the by week in FF where it is undeniably better to have a play-off bye and there is simply no valid argument to the contrary. Savage Beatings
The first round of playoffs which include a bye for the top seeds, is an elimination round. If you can avoid a game that can gain you nothing (since you are already in the playoffs) but could eliminate you with a loss, then of course it is an advantage.
